recruiting a really tall big man that could play some. I know those size guys aren't standing on every street corner, but other teams in the Sun Belt seem to find one every once in awhile. The only two 7 footers I can ever remember who played for UALR are Tony Jones and Kololev, neither of whom could play a lick. We've signed some who didn't make it into school and then either didn't play anymore or like a Will Coleman, ended up at Memphis next season. 03-hissyfit

RE: Interesting that we've always had problems
Interestingly, I just found this post from the Northwestern board regarding the slow development of their freshman 7-footer:

It is a rare 7' big man who makes significant contributions as a freshman and those few are usually top 5 to 10 recruits nationally (it's not that hard to identify a Greg Oden). Even highly rated big men sometimes don't contribute much as freshmen -- Brian Butch redshirted and this year's No. 1 recruit, BJ Mullens is just beginning to come into his own for Ohio State in some games. MSU's Herzog was ranked in the top 40 and he still is not getting off the bench much in his third year in East Lansing.
