Troy tain't bad
Troy was a lot better than I had been led to believe. I knew that they could shoot the three, and when hot could beat most anyone. I was impressed with their ball movement.

I thought that they had the best point guard we've seen this year, at least in Little Rock. The seven footer is very good and could be better if they used him right. I wonder where they have this Australian connections. The women's team had four players from Australia, and the men's team had the seven footer.

I thought we were going to get them the second half. We had really tightened our defense, and had slowed Troy down, and only trailed by five at the half. But, we started the second half with about five or six turnovers in the first four or five minutes of the half, and they hit some threes, and we were down in double digits again.

But, it's not like we got beat by some clowns. They have loads of talent, in fact a lot more than we do. They've got a lot of guys who can shoot. I'm not particualry impressed with their coach. If they had a coach, they'd be right in the running for the championship. They could beat anyone in the Belt on a given night, but, I don't think they can win three games in a row at the tournament.

I damn sure don't want to catch them in the tournament, unless it's in the finals.

They brought in some jucos with impressive numbers. Evidently they are just now coming together as a team.

That will remain to be seen. Foster has some good qualities, but until he shows me he can score, I don't look for him to be the main man there for awhile. Obviously it's not fair to criticize him too much at this time since he's a true freshman, but there are true freshman who go to the NBA after one year, so skill isn't necessarily tied to age. Not that any of them have ever played for us.03-weeping03-weeping03-weeping03-weeping

very likely could have been a great one. Remember Bryan Crislip? He was starting as a freshman, and was averaging about ten or eleven points a game when he flew the coop at the Christmas break. If the defense sagged off him, he wasn't reluctant to shoot it.

Yeah. That one still hurts. And don't forget Alex Finger, who was a very good point guard and he quit basketball with two or three years remaining as our starting point guard.l 03-banghead

I liked what I saw of Crislip as well. But he went to a transitional DI team and was a decent player, not much more, for them. Not sure he was superstar some of us thought at the time.

I never said he was a superstar. Said "he could have been a great one.''
How many point guards have we had in the last ten years who could shoot like Bryan?
