former_d1 posted earlier something about this when Steve was an assistant to Porter. Here's a post from the South Alabama board that refers to it. First I've ever heard of it, and to tell you the truth, I don't care whether it's true or not. I'm just glad we got the road win tonight!

I had started chanting "You are gonna lose!" around half time when we were down by 20 or 25 points. Shields turned around and told me to look at the score board. Well as things turned out ,we ended up beating them in over time and I kept chanting your gonna lose! The scoreboard says so! He jumped the chair and grabbed me

I also instigated him by writting a note "you are going to lose!" and hideously clamped it onto the clip board that was under his chair. So during the next time out he grabbed the clip board handed it to the head coach who had the team huddled around him. All the players saw the note!

Tell Shields congrats on the promotion to head coach for me! Wish I could be there to heckle him!"

I think that was just before he went into the stands after one of our fans and the infamous water bottle incident.
