I figured if the Chickenhawgs could beat USA
we should be able to as well. But I didn't think we could do it without our starting center. I certainly didn't think we could do it without our starting center and our back-up center (Burton played 2 minutes). Amazing grit and toughness exhibited by our players and coaching staff. I didn't think the sky was falling when we lost to Western. I still don't necessarily believe we are going to the NCAA tournament. I do believe we are as good as any team in the Sun Belt. We have as good a chance as any to win the regular season title. I think the teams most likely to win the tournament are us, WKU, and MTSU. ULL, UNT, and USA are just a tad behind the top 3 and could certainly get hot and win it. Teams like Troy, ASU, and FIU could certainly win a game or two if they make it to Hot Springs.

I just want to win the West and get a bye into the tournament. After that, we'll just have to let the chips fall where they may. Our lack of depth, and having to play so hard to win every game will possibly take it's toll on us physically. But Steve seems to spread some minutes around, and that might be why III is playing less minutes and Foster is playing more minutes. A shooter needs fresh legs, and we're going to need that down the line. If we get to the tournament, and our players are totally worn out, we can't expect to win. Playing several games over a short time will expose our lack of depth and make it very difficult to win the tournament, but anything is possible. Hope springs eternal!
