We have played close in all the MAC games and it looks like the talent is there. Even yesterday we made a run to pull it close. If we had the coaching I feel we could have a couple of more Wins. I still hope something is sparked a we pull together.
I would say that Geno and his staff have not extracted the best out of this group of players yet. He still a nice run through the west and likely a pretty easy Bracket Buster game coming up, so it is still possible to piece together a good season.
I would not say that Geno or his staff has failed yet; I'm a long way from that. I'll reserve any sort of significant judgement until the year's over and it'll probably be 2-3 years before we figure out what kind of coach Geno can/will be.

-fouled by Evans, 2-2 FTs (2)
-drilled a 3 over Greene (5)
-breakaway fouled by Mincy [horrible call BTW] 2-2 FTs (7)
-drilled a 3 over Sullinger (10)
-steal drive and fouled by Fisher for the 3 point play (13)
-jumphook over Greene (15)
-beat Singletary (17)
-rebound and over Henry-Ala (19)
-jumphook over Henry-Ala (21)
-fouled by Simpson 1-2 FTs (22)
-beats BP for the bucket and foul missed FT (24)
-breakway and dunk from steal of Fisher (26)
-spinmove in post over Simpson (28)
-fouled on rebound by Evans, guarded by Henry-Ala 1-2FT (29)
I think this is a very inaccurate characterization. It's not about individual defense. Remember, there's 5 guys out there and most of them around equally responsible when someone scores. It's very unfair to say he scored because he "drilled a 3 over Sullinger", unless he literally just pulled up on his own with Sullinger standing in front of him (admittedly this may have happened, but I'm guessing not). Even if that series of events happened, it's not really Sullinger's fault.
I mean really?
Here's a news flash: basketball is a team sport played by individuals. They play defense as a team. The only fair summary is B. McKnight lit up Kent State for 29. McKnight didn't light up Sullinger for 3, Henry-Ala for 5, etc. They were just the last guy guarding the last guy touching the ball.
I'm not trying to say X plays good defense. My point is that it's a gross oversimplification, and the problem is with how the team plays defense as a team rather than how individuals play defense as individuals.
Thanks anyway etc, but it was a very accurate response to a very unfair comment or two saying Simpson was torched by McKnight. I know from watching the game it wasn't true and verified it by checking the video. When you're in man defense and the guy scores he scores on you no matter how you spin it as team defense and the bottom line is he didn't score many of them on Simpson. He played a very good game and his play didn't warrant that knock on him, especially when it wasn't true.
Here's to your concept of team defense:

Simpson did some goods things today (most notable IMO, going after the rebounds with some passion). His D on McKnight was almost non-existent and that (along with BP's lack of post D) ultimately killed KSU's chaces of winning.

Sorry, to be clear[er] my point is that this team does not play team defense and I wasn't just attacking your post. It was the one where I was when I realized it needed to be said.

Guys - Sorry to get you guys all stirred up and waste your time with my comment. I was wrong in thinking that Simpson was guarding McKight more than he actually did guard him. Since McKnight's offensive explosion was not at the hands of Simpson, then I concur that Anthony had a great game.
I apologize for the inaccuracy of my post.
Lets move on please!
