At this point I think the correct answer to your question is a combination of B. and D.

He's having a meeting with Coach Shields next Tuesday I believe.

I don't follow the Billy Kens very closely. I'm not a big fan of Majerus and gauging by some of the scores I've seen, they play a pretty boring style of basketball.

I had the opportunity of visiting with Steve Sullivan this morning. He spoke to a group of us at Life Quest. Anyway, his take on Mike is that they had wanted Mike to come in at a certain weight at the beginning of the season, and he didn't. They feel that they're awarding him a scholarship and if he doesn't care enough to work to get his weight down where he can be more effective than he doesn't care enough about really playing. That's just what Sully believes. Whether there's more, I have no idea. PTJR seems to think it might involve some other matters, but only Mike and coaches know for sure.

I've had no suggestion of other "matters" based on folks I've talked to. Maybe PTJR has better "inside" info than I do. I've heard nothing but weight and possible attitude problems.

I think the reason he is currently suspended has more to do with the attitude problems than strictly a weight issue, except for how the weight issue might be a manifestation of the attitude problem.

As I have posted before, if a player is simply overweight, it gets him time on the pine and not on the floor. Now at the end of the season, the weight issue might cause a player's scholorship not to be renewed for the next year, but if a player is suspended during the season when they can do nothing about his scholorship, there is something more involved than simply a weight issue.

Sums it up. I suspect the weight problem is a result of the attitude problem.

If this is the case, I can't wait(pun intended) to get rid of his attitude.
This kid is really squandering an opportunity. I hope he is taking care of business in the classroom. It sounds like Coach Shields is a no nonsense guy.
