Other Seniors With a Chance at the NFL
Other than English, who do you think will have a chance at the NFL when camps open?

I'd have to put Melvin Rice 2nd in line.

I knew that was only a matter of time.

Sadest part is I think he has a shot, and I have no reason to back it up. It's probably best for my credibility that he graduated.

I agree with Brost,

And the funny thing is I think Davis may have a chance, he looks great on paper...as long as you don't throw the paper at him he has a chance.

I agree with the list mentioned so far: English, Rice, Carter, Brost, Simon. I think Dan Keller will also get a look-see from someone just because he's 6-6, moves pretty well and seemingly would have the ability to add quite a bit of bulk if needed. Bradley Pruitt is a good player but he's a bit of a cornerback/safety tweener. His best shot would be to add a few pounds and try safety. Good luck to all Huskies at the next level!

Since you are such a great judge of talent, with that great wealth of knowledge you show off each and ever day here, I am wondering out loud why you aren't an NFL GM?

I think Brost and Melvin Rice both have the ability to get a shot in the NFL. Assuming they do things right, they are both guys I think will be on practice squads of NFL teams sometime soon. Beyond those two and English, I don't like the chances of any other seniors.

Melvin Rice should draw attention and get a chance to prove his ability.

If you had asked most people after the 2007 season, Simon was by far our best receiver. He battled injuries all last season. Even before I saw BlueGoldBlue's post, the first person I thought of as an NFL prospect besides English, was Simon. He doesn't have great speed, but he does have good hands, size and runs good routes (see CMU game when he was somewhat healthy).

And if you would have asked people before the 07 season, they would have said Britt Davis. Not sure what your point is.

Simon had one good season on a 2-10 team. He's not fast, he has good but not great hands, and doesn't block that well.

If Jerry Azumah was a running back converted to DB, why can't Davis be a DB who can't catch? I would not be the first person here disappointed by Britt Davis, but I also think that the guy has some physical size (6-3) and talent that might earn a walk on somewhere. It would depend on his hip shifting, but I wouldn't count him out.

Matt Simon and Justin Anderson were the two best players on a 2-10 offense in 2007. The next season, even on a team that only went 6-6 in the regular season, neither produced at all and in fact both had trouble getting on the field (although Simon was a bit more due to injury, bu still). Neither of them is even close to an NFL player.

Agreed. Matt Simon has no shot of a NFL glance. He had a semi-interesting career in DeKalb and has decent ball catching ability. That's about all that can be said about his football prowess.

Ok, I hate to be a bummer here, but...my major guess is that Larry English will be the Huskie from this class playing in the NFL. Period.

No other Huskie will stick. The big accomplishment will be getting to training camp before being cut.

You're probably right. I think he'll be the only player drafted, but I wouldn't be surprised to see one or two, possibly a Jon Brost or a Melvin Rice, signed as undrafted free agents by some teams who want to take a chance on them.
