4th grade in CLAY COUNTY, Fla. is hardly a govt indoctrination center. Granted it looked suspicious and I'm hopeful cooler heads will prevail. But, What would have happened if the teacher HADN'T acted and something bad happened. She may have erred on the side of Caution and in another situation she may have acted to save a child's life. You have to admit, stranger things have happened.

In addition it is the secular progressive liberals who instituted the zero-tolerance policies in the first place.

Wrong...The young ones are the most easily indoctrinated. Zero tolerance means...Zero lack of common sense.

Zero Common Sense is exactly the opposite of "Zero lack of common sense" . Of course you have to have some common sense to figure that out.

I don't know what's worse - how they treat kids in grade school or what they teach them in college. Anyway, zero tolerance means zero tolerance. Out here a 6 year old kid got expelled for taking a nail clipper to school. Extreme? Yup. But to bend the rules for one means the rules can be bent for all and then what's the point of having the rule?

03-lmfao Well yes...If you count the summers that my mom spent with me during her 34 year career as a 2nd grade teacher in the public school system, here in NC. The only reason she retired was because she could not stand the crap she was having to deal with from govt. morons that thought they knew how to teach children better than someone with her experience doing it.

I give my mom all the credit for giving my daughter the passion for learning she has. She is a Junior in college studying History and plans on getting her masters in Library Science and wants to be an archivist.

The problem with government school....is that teachers have to spend so much time teaching socialist BS. All kids need to learn is the basics. The rest should be up to them as to how far they wish to challenge themselves.

If we just made Drugs Legal, little Khalin could be running a Meth Lab out of her house and supplying 4th Graders by the Dozens and NOT GET ARRESTED or kicked out of school.

We are Bad Bad People .....

Just because 1 school did it does not mean that no schools have common sense. In my city I will certainly send my kids to the public schools, as they are excellent.

"Can" doesn't mean "will". The point of having a rule is to guide people to do the right thing. However, if it were so simple as zero tolerance, we'd just need a decision tree and skip trials, judges, juries, etc.

Reality is that situations need to be evaluated on their own.

This case is even more egregious b/c the girl didn't give a friend anything more than candy. The teacher erred. If the school REALLY wants "zero tolerance" then that teacher should be fired.

So what we see is really a double standard. The state bullying its citizens, and demanding respect and compliance even when shown to be wrong. That reads like "indoctrination" to me.
