RE: ETSU Official Thread 12/23 7:30p
We played a decent game, and so did ETSU...they just had more weapons. Smith really hurt us with his penetration and decision making. I loved that Mitchell was in uniform. That means that he should be back by our next conference game I would think. We just couldn't get over the hump. Every time we made a run ETSU answered with a basket...that is what good teams do. We are not quite a good team yet with the players we have on the floor, and we are forced to shoot jumpshots all day because we have zero post presence. About what I expected from the game, was just hoping ETSU would miss a few of those big shots...they came up big when the needed it.

I thought ETSU looked sluggish....it could be due to playing Kennesaw's style more than our own. I think this is most likely the reason it wasn't a twenty plus victory.

Perhaps..I thought Kennesaw missed a bunch of chances in the first half to keep it close...two point blank dunks come to mind that would have cut a 7 point halftime lead to 3. Also the 5 point play didn't help :) Both teams missed some opportunities, but both also made some plays. Smith came up big all night, and when you had to make a 3pt you hit it every time. Neither team played great, neither team played poorly. We had to play a great game to beat you and we didnt.

Mitchell will play against UGA next week.

RE: ETSU Official Thread 12/23 7:30p
the game was very frustrating. when we were down by 5 or 6, it always felt like 15. it was very clear that the bucs have more talent than the owls. they really did a good job on the presses and traps they implemented, and it looked like it was able to throw the offense out of sync. i cant even count the number of times the fans were counting down the shot clock because we sat and held the ball for so long. that was probably the most frustrating part. that, and the fact that every time the owls had a little something going, the bucs turned right around and matched it. i understand what im about to say might not exactly fit with ingle's offensive philosophy but it seemed like almost everytime we penetrated into the lane, good things happened. I dont see why we dont drive the ball more than we do, and for a team that likes to shoot 3s the drive opens up the outside with a dish. i dont know, this is just something ive noticed for a long time now.

on a couple of side notes, i was disappointed not seeing mitchell in some action. And also, for it being the day before christmas eve, there was a pretty good crowd. while granted there were next to no students there, the community seems to be buying into the program.

also, i dont know if anyone has been to any games lately, but theyve implemented an emcee, really i would say more so like the nba in the sense that he tries to pump up the crowd and stuff. its not caught on well yet with the crowd, but i think its a great idea.

my last comment doesnt have to do with the game itself, but i heard it tonight at the game so i thought id mention it. i was told that sometime in the very near future KSU would be adding a third color of red to their school colors. i was told thats why the seats in the convocation center are yellow and red on the sidelines. i dont know, i hadnt heard a word about that till tonight. what about anyone else? has there been any news about this i mightve missed?

The emcee is constant, nonstop banter -- it doesn't matter if the band is playing, music is on or the cheerleaders are doing something, he's out there yapping away. I don't mind the idea, but dude -- learn when to say when!

The game was rough, but it ended up as expected. This is the year to get some players developed under fire -- next year should be a huge step forward.

On a side note, good to see Shuan Stegall in the stands.

I know someone brought the color scheme up this summer but I have added a link to the media guide of colors and they have added burgundy as a secondary color

Great game tonight KSU. You guys scrapped, which is what I expect from Tony Ingle led squads. As already mentioned, we did an effective job of responding to your runs. I really like Woods from Alabama (I think). He's a big, strong guard with potential. He made some freshman mistakes, which is to be expected, but I like him a lot.

I like him too, but he needs to learn how to play defense.

I really had a chance to absorb Tiggs' game and I came away very impressed. I think Ingle's gameplan was to take away either Pigram or Tiggs and it worked in Ingle's favor in the first half with Tiggs as he was in foul trouble and had to go to the bench. Pigram was steady but not quite as good as I thought. He can score but he largely uses one side of the floor. I know that Ingle didn't want to get into a running game with them as thin as we were. We just needed one more big to "step up" (Whipple?) and I know Allison is under the weather. Looking ahead I think that Jacksonville is the wildcard here when you talk conference champion. They have already beaten Belmont and their battles with ETSU will be huge. It is still a 3 team race for 1st in my HUMBLE opinion.

As for the DJ, it is a great idea. Yes sometimes he is a little off key, but why hate? Every little bit helps.
