The Golden Age of the Internet
How long before this sort of stuff actually passes and ruins this, the last bastion of absolute free markets, libertarianism, and freedom?
Quote:As part of their commitment to transparent and open government, the Obama Transition Team is posting the lobbying agendas of the groups it meets with for public review and comment. One of the more interesting documents to be found there is the Motion Picture Association of America’s “international trade” agenda.
Some of the MPAA’s agenda is reasonable, such as cracking down on commercial optical disc piracy. But much of it, if adopted, would result in a substantially less free and safe internet, at little or no actual benefit to the artists and workers the MPAA claims to represent.
[...]
Here, the MPAA is advocating for a number of things, the most problematic of which is a “three strikes” internet termination policy. This would require ISPs to terminate customers’ internet accounts upon a rights-holder’s repeat allegation of copyright ingfringement. This could be done potentially without any due process or judicial review. A three-strikes policy was recently adopted by legislation in France, where all ISPs are now banned from providing blacklisted citizens with internet access for up to one year.
[...]
[T]he MPAA would like the US government to pressure foreign governments to adopt the same harmful measures. This is made explicit by a look at, for instance, the International Intellectual Property Association’s 2008 one-sheets on Canada and Spain: The MPAA wants these governments to institute mandatory internet filtering and three-strikes laws.

And if you are with an ISP like mine, you call them up and ***** them out over billing wrongs or make THEM Angry, and it's '3-Strikes Baby' while they are still pulling monthly payment funds off your Credit Card.
I do love this stuff !!!!!! Shows the True Man Behind the Messiah ...

RE: The Golden Age of the Internet
Quick question Trip. I have XP and Vista 32 bit on my desktop. I want to add a third boot option, Vista 64. Is it as easy as adding the second boot option or is there any extra steps for a third option? Just partition and install? If it's any big deal, PM me.

Thank You Torch
I thought it wasn't bad either .... I guess there are those who have no Sense of Humor ... what can I say other than Paul's Happy Molecules ....
Paul .... Vista 64 is a Step Up from Vista 32 and will or let me say "Should Install right in line above Vista 32" without issue.
But bad things happen .... I don't remember having too many of these kinds of Failures, but there is always the outside chance of the Vista 32 Boot Loader to become Corrupt and try to Reassign the Primary Drive Partitions with a New Letter.
That is a Fairly easy problem to Repair as are most of these kinds of Boot File Corruption Issues.
But if it goes Right, you should see your V64 in the Boot Menu on the Main Restart.

Thanks Trip. Didn't think I would encounter any errors but wanted a second opinion. :ncaabbs:
I should have said "I gave you +1", but I think I need to give you another for the help. Can't stand that dang red spot on my monitor.
Mmm..., guess I can't give you but one. Don't know how others give and take 2 and 3.

Why do you need to run both, Paul?

I am going to install more memory and a second video card and want to be able to access all of it and since Vista 32 is paid for, figured I would leave it on a small partition in case I have anythig that wont run on 64.

I would just run the 32 bit version in a Virtual PC or VM Ware environment within the 64 operating system... that way you don't have an extra partition on your hard disk.

Back to the point of the post -
Frankly, it's not surprising. I guess it was inevitable. Maybe won't pass this time, but something like this will pass in the future.
Especially since much of our government is convinced that becoming "France West" and Socialism Light is the way to go........
