The MAC rep this year is likely to be based on who the opponent will be.

NOTRE DAME vs BALL ST (guaranteed sellout)
RUTGERS vs BALL ST (very good attendance) Rutgers has been rumored in a swap with the International Bowl (run by the same people as the MCB)

Anyone else.... probably CENTRAL MICHIGAN (ensures good attendance) who is anyone else: here are the remaining options (unless a bowl team swap occurs):

ACC: WAKE FOREST (7-5) or NC STATE (6-6)
SUN BELT: ARKANSAS ST (6-6), LOUISIANA-LAFAYETTE (6-6), OR FLORIDA ATLANTIC (6-6)
WAC: SAN JOSE ST (6-6)

WESTERN MICHIGAN is also in the mix, but the MCB folks may be hedging against it. Earlier this year, a dismal crowd showed up to Ford Field for an excellent match-up between the Broncos and Illinois.

It is also possible to match two MAC teams, as 6-6 Northern Illinois and 6-6 Bowling Green are also eligible. But that would be an absolute public relations fiasco for the league.

If WMU goes to Hawaii, I'm betting the MCB will be left with either a SBC team or San Jose.

...however, that bold text in the bowl listing might be a typo, since in the body of the column (4th paragraph), he still has our status up in the air. Not to mention this would go against the grain of what the Kalamazoo Gazette has been projecting.

If Hawaii... what a great trip for the players/coaches and a nice recruiting tool. A bit of a bummer for fans as basically no one outside players' families would go, and I can imagine the program losing some money on that trip.

A Sun Belt team in the Motor City Bowl would be a major disappointment. The MAC is having one of its best seasons in years and may not get any marquee matchups in the bowl season. Very disappointing.

CMU vs FAU...

FAU has been hot lately. Although I'd take CMU to win this game, I have a funny feeling FAU might play the way they were expected to play since the preseason. FAU's receivers haven't been anything special this season, but if they practice well and come prepared for this game, CMU will have a game on their hands.
