OLIVE BRANCH — Olive Branch’s 32nd annual Christmas parade will have a new route this year.

Vickie DuPree, executive director of the Olive Branch Chamber of Commerce, which presents the parade, said the new route has been shortened by about a mile to improve the flow of the parade for both participants and viewers.

DuPree said event organizers decided to eliminate the section of the route from Highway 305 to Goodman Road and down to the city park entrance.

“That distance was tough on walkers and little kids,” she said. “It’s a long haul. Plus, there were never many parade viewers in that area anyway. We felt like shortening it would make it better for everyone.”

This year’s route will have participants line up at Olive Branch High School. Procession will begin on Chickasaw Drive in front of Olive Branch Elementary School and continue past Blocker Street to Pigeon Roost Road and through Olive Branch Old Towne, then left onto Highway 305 and left onto College Street and back down Blocker to stop at the high school.

The parade will take place Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. Line up will begin at 12:30 p.m. with formation of participants completed by 11:45 p.m.

Ok we went. Last year TomII was there. Does anyone know why Tom III was not there this year?

I would venture to guess that he is still too small for any event as of yet.
