Nate Davis coming back
Excellent news for BSU.
http://www.thestarpress.com/article/2008.../812060350
As I understand it, the pass happy MAC West will return all their starting QBs.
I did a look at a few West teams (e.g., EMU, WMU, CMU, etc.)
I believe EMU and WMU lose only TWO starters on offense (each loses a lot on Defense).
A TON of offensive impact players return for these MI schools (and BSU for that matter too).
Don't want to get giddy (nothing hard in my morning coffee) but looks like the MAC will have another BANNER year in '09.

Toledo loses just two starters on offense and three on defense. We return our starting QB, WR Stephen Williams, RB DaJuane Collins, and RB Morgan Williams. Of course we had just 9 seniors on the entire roster.

CMU is only losing the two offensive tackles and one DL. The DL and 1 OT missed a lot of games with injuries.
Ball State is losing a ton af very good seniors. Nate will not have the same supporing cast next year.

Not intended as a flame I have family in Muncie...but by the 4th qtr last night..I knew he was coming back. Rough game for Davis. You could literally see his stock falling. If Hoke comes back to Ball State the Cardinals will roll next year.

RE: Nate Davis coming back
I don't know. I gotta think this is an "at the moment" emotional decision, especially the way the Cardinals lost last night. I gotta think he and his family will have a few more conversations about this topic before it truly is all said and done.
I just look at the fact, that while many of BSU's offensive weapons return next year, pretty much the whole line is gone. The line is, in my opinion, why BSU was so successful this year. Isn't the saying, the game is won in the trenches? Just like Coach Hoke, I have to believe Nate's stock is as high as it will be. Did it take a hit last night? Probably, but it was just ONE game. Look at his whole body of work and I still have to believe not much has changed. Lets be honest, how many QB's have "Great" stock or "horrible" stock, then they get to the combine an they go in an opposite direction.
I am just ranting trying to feel better about last night I guess. Do I want 1-3 back next year? Hell yeah. I just don't think we have heard the "end" of this story yet.

In addition, Nate has a two-year-old daughter. That would make it even more surprising if he passes up the chance to make NFL money and come back next year.

I think that Hoke is the only one that may be moving on. At this point, I would be very surprised if Jones or Cubit received a BC$ offer.

RE: Nate Davis coming back
Does Davis really want to take the chance that there won't be a rookie salary for the 2010 draft class???

RE: Nate Davis coming back
Good decision for Davis. He could develop into a first round pick instead of a first day pick. He Had a rough MAC title game and I'm sure their will be un finished business for him. Should be a good year for the MAC as the entire conference returns most of its starting QB's. MAC did well this year overall getting more teams bowl eligible. Looks very promising next year.
