No school in the MAC will ever be UM, no matter how many games they win. But a competitive MAC team should be enough to bring the pride back to EMU football and alumni.

I think EMU is closer to that than you realize. What did a read.....26 games during the Genyk tenure decided on the last drive (we won only 10 of them). And remember, we finished middle of the pack last year in the MAC west.

We are not starting from square one here. We have some good young talent in the pipeline. We have much stronger academics. We need a coach that can come in an build on what Genyk has started. It may be as simple as a coach that has the needed coaching skills, but can also endear himself to the players....I think that's what was missing with Genyk. There was not a level of trust there. Too many mind games and negative motivational techniques. He was not a guy the players could ever warm up to. Turner Gil is. Brady hoke is. Bill Cubit is. Hopefully our next coach has that quality.

I didn't mean to say that EMU can be UM. I would never expect that. i just want to see them win games at a respectable level. 7-9 wins a year is a level EMU can reach if they decide to put more money and effort into it.

EMU is smack dab in thr middle of a fertile recruiting ground. Detroit has alot of good athletes that with proper coaching can become solid players. Ohio is ohio of course.

EMU is located in a large media market. If they can start to win they can start to change the image of the university. That is why football is so important. Look at GVSU. No one evne thoyght of the school until they started winning championships. Now its the hot school instate.

But, GVSU, as successful as they have been in a good sized market (GR, Holland, Muskegon) with no competition and the winningest record you could ever wish for only draws about 8 to 10 thousand fans per game in their high schoolish stadium. You know why? It's only D2. It's a little hard to bring'em in for the big Northwood game!
