FM transmitters
Alright this christmas i am probably going to get a FM transmitter for my 05 civic with the most basic stock stereo, so i was wondering if anyone has experiences with them and recommend a good brand that would work by just hooking in the cigarette lighter, dont want to get a new stereo in there.
Here is one that i am looking at right now link

RE: FM transmitters
I used a mid priced one and a cheap one years ago for my CD player, so there was no USB connection, I found with both of them the big thing was just finding the right freq. But once you got zeroed in both worked great. Until you take a road trip that is.

***Due to the post below my car at the time was a '87 Grand Am

RE: FM transmitters
I have a Griffin. I think it was a mid range priced. It only works what I would consider well in American cars, no clue why. This is disconcerting due to the fact that I drive an 04 Civic.

RE: FM transmitters
ok so i have had 2 different ones. both Monster cables.

This one was great- its digital so you could use any radio station. also it plugs into the bottom of the ipod and charges it while its playing- so it doesnt die mid road trip

This other one was terrible- only had 8 channels to choose from and all were like in the 80's- most of the time in my car the higher up channels worked better. and then the cable plugs in where your headphones go. so its dies pretty quickly.

Honestly- i would get so frustrated with both trying to switch channels mid road trip that i quit using them. my car stereo plays mp3's- so i just burn a data cd instead of an audio one- it fits tons more songs than a regular cd- and it sounds soooo much better than the plugged in through cables ipod.
