Citi/Taxpayer Field
http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/n...0454.story

A couple of Staten Island councilman are suggesting the new Citi Field (the Mets new home in 2009) should be renamed Citi/Taxpayer Field since the government just gave an extra 200 billion to Citigroup Sunday. Citi is still going to pay the Mets $20 million a year over 20 years for naming rights to the ballpark despite its financial issues.

Didn't Enron say the same thing until the Astros said thanks but no thanks. We'll find a different name instead?

RE: Citi/Taxpayer Field
I had a nice chat with a lady at Citicards yesterday, to let her know I would be paying off my (perviously low-interest) credit card as fast as possible, and then never doing business with citi again for anything. The reason? They raised my rate 10% with NO provocation, and told me to my face that they can do whatever they want. Maybe so, but there are a hell of a lot of other banks I can go to. I say let 'em fail.

Charlie Rose had Vikram Pandit, CEO of Citigroup, on Tuesday night.
They usually post the videos a couple of days later, Charlie Rose.

This may also happen closer to home, as Reliant Energy is trouble as well. Its looking for a buyer/merger.

They are paying the Texans about $325 million for naming rights.

The phrase that I have used in the past when a bank or other commercial entity does sommething like that is, "I can be treated like a stranger anywhere."

Of course, this only works if you are talking face-to-face to someone who isn't a stranger to you.

To date, the only Financial Institution that to date I have NEVER had any issue with as to billing, credits, customer service, etc. was USAA... and I have had insurance, bank accounts, and credit card accounts with them for over 25 years.

But now they are pulling the same garbage with me as Citibank did with Emmie. 01-wingedeagle

Heh. Arguably, all new stadia should be called Taxpayer Field, since not a one of them gets built without fleecing the locals.
