I am sure many fans have pneumonia, sinus infections, flu etc.
We need an outdoor heated tent with big screen TV's and Booze.
Most 30,40,50,60 year olds will prefer this to thermal gloves and thermal underwear.
Many more fans would come to DeKalb if there were more fun alternatives.
The Pubs are just too small in DeKalb. They probably could also hear the refs better than the fans inside the stadium.

I heard second hand that they were crowded and super festive, with NIU T shirts all over the place with a few sailors. Reports were the sailors in the bars were will treated and some of our woman did their patriotic duty, while our men looked on in support.(unlike the movie," An Officer and a gentleman.)
I heard thirdhand, that some NIU male fans were upset that there were not more Navy female cadets, as they were equally willing, to give a warm patriotic welcome and strengthen the bonds between NIU and Navy.

I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the crowd Tues nite given the circumstances.

I thought the student side was represented fairly well. They sure made 3X the noise and gave Red/Black chant life while West side sleep walked thru the game. We were pitiful in our lack of support during the game.

Id agree with this, very shocked by the turnout as was NIU as they ran out of concessions in the 2nd quarter. The west side was very quiet during the game but there was not much to cheer about also. And yep I agree with the student part, they came out in bigger numbers than I expected. I think part of the problem with the west side, is I believe you had more people than usual attending that had never been to an NIU game before or were not diehard fans. That is why I was disappointed the concessions ran out so early, these people are going to think "Wow what a cheap university"

Regarding the larger than expected student turnout.

The Huskiemobile, is like an Oscar Meyer mobile. Both generate incredible support for their product, NIU football and Oscar Meyer Hotdogs.

Maybe we should have a song,.. Oh I wish I was a Victor Huskie Football fan...

Anything that associates fun with NIU football is a good thing.
The fact that so many students braved the bad weather to come and watch NIU football, and to see so many red shirts all over DeKalb was really incredible.
