Air Force, which is trying to build its basketball program, signed coach Joe Scott to a three-year contract extension through the 2007-08 season.
Scott, who signed a five-year deal in April 2000, led the Falcons to a 9-19 record, including a 3-11 mark in the Mountain West Conference. For just the second time in school history, Air Force played an all-Division I schedule and also won consecutive road games for the first time since 1989. Twelve of Air Force's losses were by eight points or less and 11 of its opponents received bids to the NCAA or NIT tournaments.
"This extension indicates how much our basketball program has improved in the past two years," Air Force director of athletics Col. Randy Spetman said. "We are committed to making this a winning program, and Joe Scott is committed to getting us there."
In Scott's two years at Air Force, season ticket sales have increased by 80 percent and home attendance by 70 percent.
"This is an exciting step for the basketball program," Scott said. "The administration is making a statement that our program and our players are important, which is necessary to advance for us to the next level."

I follow Air Force basketball from a distance. What is your opinion of Coach Scott? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="confused.gif" />
