NTR- Vandy's finally done it!
I couldn't come to the game because I have so much stuff to get done, so I listened to the Tigers game and watch the Vandy/Kentucky game. Vandy's got 6 wins now and they are bowl eligble after all of these years. I'm so happy for them right now. I thought that they were going to choke against the Mildkitties, but they didn't.

Boy, have the world turned upside down. Vandy (and possibly us) is going to a bowl and the Ugly Orange is staying at home.

Cheers for Vandy!04-cheers

Trivia:

What bowl, what year, and who did Vandy last play in a bowl game?

1982, lost to Air Force in the Hall of Fame classic in Birmingham 36-28 with George MacIntyre as coach. Finished 8-4 beating us, utk and fla that year.

My wife drug me to an estate sale at a house on McLean a few years ago...apparently the people were huge Vandy fans. Among other Dore memorabilia, they had a 2'x3' needle point picture commemorating that game, with the date, the team logos, the bowl logo, and the score.

It was actually very cool, and I almost bought it, but then my wife reminded me that we didn't really have room for it in the house. 05-nono We DID have room, however, for two lamps, a silver service set, four place settings of china, and some books.

Vandy to the Music City Bowl would likely mean Kentucky to the Liberty?

Part of the bowl experience is the travel for the team.

I suspect Vandy becoming bowl eligible just ruined the Liberty Bowl's dream of having Mississippi here.

Vanderbilt to the Liberty, Mississippi to the Music City, and Kentucky to the Independance.

I don't think the Liberty Bowl takes Vandy over Ole Miss.

I also don't think UK wants to go to a 3rd straight Music City Bowl.

One of the three will be in Shreveport, and my money is probably on UK for that. I see the Liberty Bowl offering Ole Miss first, then Vandy going to the hometown bowl game at LP field.

Yup! But can you name the bowl game they made before that one (without looking it up on the Internet somewhere)??

Ok.....I'll go ahead and tell you!! The Peach Bowl vs. Texas Tech in 1974. I was there (at age 14) and sat in Fulton County Stadium in Atlanta in the pouring rain just to watch a 6-6 tie! They finished with a 7-3-2 record. Beloved Coach Steve Sloan was hired away just two weeks later by none other than Texas Tech and Vandy then hired Fred Pancoast from Memphis State!

Gotta' love Vandy!! GO DORES!!
