shhhh: We got nothin' this year. Just hope young men are interested in the program. First year coach...don't expect too much. Don't know why we waste out time on JUCO's like Al Fisher.

Kent State good start out of the gate. Good sign beating A-10 team on the road. Solid win for rpi.

RE: MAC basketball standings
what a nightmare for western. expected to contend for the west and losing a slew of close games to decent but beatable comp to start the season. sort of a hallmark of hawkins teams, always competitive but usually not enough offense to win the close ones.

we should get a sense of where toledo is over the next few days they have 3 games in 3 days in florida that are fairly winnable. right now they have the nation's top rated schedule after 2 games (undefeated florida and xavier)

Have MAC West favorites EMU & WMU forgotten the season has already started?

RE: MAC basketball standings
The same typical crap we see from OU basketball fans every year during the preseason. "MAC Standings" or "power ratings". Somehow OU ends up on top. Then the actual MAC games start and they end up being little better than mediocre. Toledo and Miami lose two games to some of America's best teams and another OU fan finds a way to put them in last place in the MAC... MAC standings will start when league games start.

RE: MAC basketball standings
Standing are wins and loses to date.....Are these standings what they will look in 3 weeks or 3 months from now no, but they reflect performance to date. Ohio has done very well non-conference over the years. This year they are replacing Williams, but the cupboard isn't all bare. Tillman is playing like a possible MAC MVP. Ohio also has three others averaging in double figures. How about our diaper dandy baby....Sensational Stevie "the Wonder" Coleman with a 21 point 10 rebounds performance in his SECOND college game......yes.....10 rebounds by our 2 guard......that's what a 6 four guard can do against mid-majors. Ohio two solid point guards this year. Freeman and Orr playing well on the wings. If Ohio gets anything from its centers they will be a contender.

OBJ, Bobcat basketball doesn't corner the market on 'diaper dandies'. BSU has a pretty good 6'9" frosh that is averaging a double double thru 3 games:

18 pts/10.7 reb per game

I don't see where john suggested in the slightest that OU "corners the market" on "diaper dandies".

RE: MAC basketball standings
Ball State very improved and they will be a contender in the west. Right now Ball State might be the best looking team in the division as Toledo, EMU and WMU have shown very little so show they could play .500 yet win a division in the MAC.

BGSU looked very strong tonite despite a loss at Ohio State. They will give Kent State and Miami a handfull. BGSU frontline is flat out dangerous. The got all kinds of options. Orr has done a nice job turning them around and quick. BGSU is the third best team in the MAC and they are legit...They have competed with good teams so far. Gave Ohio State 40 minutes tonite. I'm sure BG got a little excited in the last five and took a few bad shots that hurt them late.

Wow, bitter much? The original poster even comments that Miami looks good but you still feel there is some huge conspiracy because the MAC Standings are posted. Unreal.

I guess Dick has forgotten Miami's blazing hot 1-4 start in MAC play last year, and the fact that Ohio finished ahead of both Miami (by virtue of the tie-breaker) and Toledo in the MAC in 2008.

In an eight day period EMU has played Purdue, Georgia, Detroit, and St. Johns. The combined record of their opponents is 13-4 (53 most difficult schedule according to Sagarin) and the only bad loss was at Detroit. All of the games have been on the road and only Georgie was a neutral site game. Playing this type of schedule with several new faces, including a freshman PG replacing an injured pre-season All-MAC PG, is rough.

They'll get better by MAC season...I hope.

Toledo drilled by Cleveland State, Buffalo falls to Niagara. Those were two games the MAC needed. Ball State wins and they continue to improve. Ball State looking the the pre-2001 Ball State....Cards are back...and their football team isn't bad either.

Big non-conference games today. Kent State vs Texas A&M, Ohio vs George Mason, Miami vs Xavier, Buffalo vs Temple. Ball State goes for win #4 today as well. WMU, CMU, EMU, NIU also in action today. Should be an exciting day of games.
