From where my brother? Thats what I'm saying. We can't sell tickets, we can't raise tuition and the state won't properly fund the school. Even if the state did (see Rutgers), Lefton would see all that money into academics. Which I sorta agree on. Even when athletics tried the donor system with the chairbacks, they sat empty. Should athletics go into debt?
That kind of money at other schools comes from alums/boosters, not from the university. The big schools get very large amounts of their operating cash donated. It's a bit of a myth that the programs themselves fund their high salaries and extras. Most schools lose money on football, even the BCS schools. They make up that money and more from well-heeled athletics boosters.
Q: Will that happen at KSU? A:
I'm saying we will stay like we are unless we get an outside infusion of cash, and I believe that is Dr. Lefton's approach to athletics: the U will pay for basics; the programs will need to fund the extras. Golf and baseball are the models for being top-shelf and heavy with private endowments. At some point, if we hope to improve, basketball needs to bring in some big-time donations. Got an extra $100k lying around, going to waste?

all of the wal-marts around Kent are selling tons of it. In fact they have whole sections of it and it seems to move just fine. Maybe it's just an area thing. I bet it would move around just fine in the Cleveland area and possibly even around Columbus. Ohio State may be the biggest school around but they aren't necessarily the best and there are tons of KSU alum around this state!

Old Flash - Christian was not here 10 yrs. - And back to my original post about JC getting his first win @ TCU, he has found it equally difficult to get his 2nd. He committed career suicide taking the TCU job, but he will get others (a la GW).

TCU didn't look very good in losing to Nebraska last night (it was on cable). When Christian SHOVES his players toward the scorer's table you know that he's fuming mad, and he did a lot of shoving in the game. Christian didn't look too good himself..he had a scab on his chin.

Alpha, can't speak for axeme, but think this is the message.
From where? From someone's deep pockets, that's where. If not "someone", many "someones" not complaining about a seat license.
Very few schools, even Notre Dame, build bigger stadiums, arenas, training centers, ect
. from University funding. See the names on the facilities. Every University President in the country would find a better use for the dough than a stadium or arena. That's why the money is in a specified donation that can only be used for a single purpose.
We need more rich alumni and friends at KSU. Know any that love basketball?

Kent 76 Wrote:Good point, AlphaFlash. Where IS the Kent State apparel?? In Stark County, which most of you know borders Portage County to the south, I never see it. Every store, and I mean EVERY store, sells that ugly scarlet and gray Buckeye stuff - grocery stores, hospital hospitality shops, corner convenience stores, as well as, of course, all the stores that sell apparel. I know there is one store near North Canton that sells it, as my nieces bought Kent State T-shirts there, and I ASSUME they sell it at the Stark County Regional Campus of KSU, but I've never seen any anywhere, myself. Of course, maybe nobody would buy it. No store will take up space for something that doesn't move.
I've gotten alot of stuff cheap at the Steve & Barry's, outside of that and the way overpriced stuff at the school bookstore I also have never seen it anywhere.
