I'm with you on this one brother.

HuskieJoe Wrote:The weeknight game actually works great for me, I've been out of town the last six weekend and missed all three home games in October. I will definitely be leaving work in the suburbs early Wednesday, but may be a later arrival to tailgating (~4pm rather than 2 pm) and leave the game early (~halftime) if the weather is crap and the game gets out of hand. If the forecast looks dry I'll probably be there at 2 pm for tailgating. My wife works until 6:30 in the suburbs Wednesday and she doesn't like cold weather, so she's a no show.

As of now, weather.com is showing high of 43 with 50% chance of rain. There is nothing worse than a cold, windy rain.

Weather seems to be the most significant factor in attendance, I predict we'll have less than 10,000 on Wednesday if the forecast holds true and it is a cold, windy, rainy day.
Jesus are you getting old! Remember Toledo like 5 years ago? Man up!

I do agree with you guys, 4 weeknight games is absolutely out of control. There should be 1 per year, and at very most 2. Plus NIU @ Kent State on a weeknight in front of probably 2,000 fans and no television......why?

Because when you play three weeknight games in November you can't just throw a Saturday game in there?

Watching in Philly. I travel and don't like week night home games. Away games are OK when they're on TV. Hopefully not travelling the week of Thanksgiving and attending the Navy game.

I'll be there in the Band having a good time as always, could be one of my last games in the marching band though, I don't love it like I used to, you can thank the director for that.

But my point is if you are going to bow down to ESPN, destroy the class schedule of student athletes, and make it impossible for many fans to go to, you have to have the game televised SOMEWHERE.

Totally agree. The MAC prostituted itself and its fans to ESPN by agreeing to all these mid-week games. There will be less than 4,000 at Kent. The LEAST they could do would be to ensure that these mid-week games are televised. It's time to march to Cleveland, tar and feather Rick Chryst, and send him out of town on a rail. The man is poison for the MAC.

Are you kidding me?! I got really sick of hearing "De-Cab" ! And pronouncing the "s" in Illinois - I'm glad they're not announcing. Especially since I can't be in DeKalb and will be watching the game on TV.

2006
* Central Michigan came to DeKalb undefeated in the MAC.
* We played them mid-week on ESPN.
* We were 5-5 and licking our wounds after a tough loss.
* We needed to win for a chance at a bowl bid.
* No one gave us a chance.
* No one expected a good crowd.
* The attendance was 18,139.

See any similarities?

Hard to quantify but that was Wolfe's last game in Huskie Stadium which may have helped attendance a little bit.

It was also a very "warm" night for November so the weather was good. My brother in law & my sons went to that game and were surprised at how nice it was for Nov.

WISH we could be there but 5 hours on the road (round trip) on a weeknight is impossible. We all have to work the day of & day after the game.

Nigel Incubator-Jones Wrote:Sorry Charlie, but no I can't make a mid-week game in the middle of friggin November. These mid-week games absolutely suck. We're stuck with 3 of this blankety-blank things on our schedule.

NIU is basically telling the Alums to F-off with these games.

I am making the Navy game but with work and family obligations there is no way the I can make all these mid-week games. They would be bad enough in Sept or Oct but Nov is a joke.

Next week is the worst - not even on TV.

Polls have closed here are the results of the poll. Roughly a 65 percent attendance rate from respondance

19,000 X 0.65 = 12,350

Other Corrections
12,350 + 500 (people that NIJ would scare off if in attendance)
12,850 + 100 (those offended by DF's jokes if he were in attendance that would leave before kickoff)

= 12,950***

*** margin of error + or - 6,000
