per ESPN.com...
The Wyoming Cowboys believe they have landed another Nigerian who will be a nightmare for Mountain West Conference foes.
Omoniyi Makun, a 6-foot-8, 215-pound center from Lagos, Nigeria, who played the last two years at Indiana's Vincennes Community College, signed a national letter of intent Thursday to play for UW.
He attended Ikija High School in Lagos and pronounces his name oh-MAW'-nee mah-KOON' but often goes by the nickname Niyi (nee).
"Niyi is exactly the type of player we have been looking for," Wyoming coach Steve McClain said. "He is a very physical player. He showed maturity defensively in junior college. He is an outstanding shot-blocker, and that is something we were looking for after losing two outstanding shot-blockers in Josh Davis and Ronell Mingo."
Makun was also recruited by Idaho, Texas-El Paso, Wisconsin and Central Florida.
He started all 32 games for the Trailblazers this past season, averaging 8.9 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.1 blocked shots.
