Dumb-ass American voters
Throughout the campaign I would talk with the guys at work to see what they thought. Almost all of them wanted Obama to win. When I asked why here's what they said:
I would get free health care
My rent would go down
If I lost my job nothing would change
My boss will have to treat me better
As a black man he knows me and my problems
McCain would make me work harder
It's not fair that Bill Gates has billions and I don't
and on and on...
None of them mentioned terrorism, the economy, Iraq, Iran, N Korea, etc. All they cared about was what was in it for them individually. These people see Obama as their personal lottery ticket.
As long as we have people who crave handouts instead of personal pride we'll be doomed to the socialist mentality.

RC Sproul was all about this very thing on Monday. He spent a long time disecting that mentality and how inappropriate it was.
RC kicked a$$ (doubt if he'd like that expression) at one point saying, "If you vote for a tax that you don't pay, you are STEALING from your brother!"

Someone actually said "McCain would make me work harder?"
I'm not stealing from anybody. The Federal government is stealing from me and my brother.

Sadly, someone actually did. You wouldn't believe some of the things my fellow associates think they'll be reaping from an Obama presidency.

Not sure how old you are, but some people like a government safety net. They are seniors, people under 30, lower income working class, and women. That's enough to win an election. It's usually men 35-50 at peak income potential that are against big government.

RE: Dumb-ass American voters
I remember a lot of people saying they would vote for Bush in 2000 because he promised to cut taxes. They otherwise knew nothing about his domestic agenda or foreign policy positions. I would warn about the Project For A New American Century to them, with its obvious blueprint for a perpetual state of neverending wars over Middle Eastern oil, and they would say I was crazy because such a thing could never happen. We see how that turned out.
The simple fact of the matter is that a whole lot of voters on both sides of the spectrum vote only on selfish issues that might only affect them directly and have no concept of how to even think about looking at the big picture. Blaming only Obama supporters or only McCain supporters for this kind of stupidity is completely disingenuous. Many people voted for both candidates based on idiotic motives and now we have to move on with the outcome.
