RE: President Obama!
To the folks that claim this election wasn't about race, how do you respond to the fact that 96% of the african-americans voted for Obama. This was about race and thats what I am most disgusted about. We have some very stupid people in America that voted for Obama but couldn't tell you one thing he stood for other then he is a black man. Lets all hope Obama turns out to be one of the best presidents in history regardless of race.

there is HOPE again for America...CHANGE is here...and his name is President Barack Obama!
Go Tigers!!!
Drew
Hope for what? What change will come?
Not one person who voted for Barack Hussien Osama (Freudian slip) has been able to answer those two questions. Not even the Messiah has been able to tell what change is coming and what we should be hoping for.
Go figure. No one has answer for the "hope" and "change"

RE: President Obama!
All I can say is welcome to the days of Jimmy Carter and hopefully not worse! Thankfully, I have a low fixed rate mortgage on my home....all these young folks graduating from college might face the 21% interest rates, gas shortages and double digit unemployment rates as many faced during the Carter years.....I guess all we have now is hope since we have change (I don't mean color either...I mean a change from personal responsibility to government reliance) that tax increases work this time since they have never worked in the past! Buy a home soon and buy a gun...I have never owned a gun but purchased one on election day....there was a run on guns at Dicks Sporting goods store on elections day!!! Of course I purchased a case and multiple locks and really do not have a need for one...I guess I am bitter...maybe I should go to church this weekend. I am excited that all working Americans will be forced to have health insurance....I have a 60,000 dollar employee who refuses to purchase health insurance; it is my understanding under Obama's plan she will be forced to purchase insurance or pay fine! She is going to sh!t a brick when she realizes federal health insurance is not free. The next four years should easily flip this country back to red. Who is going to be the next Reagan?

Obama went from havig the most liberal record in the Senate to being a moderate during his campaign. To me this says Obama would say anything to win. Do you really believe he's a Bill Clinton moderate?
I used that with the assumption that saying "call me crazy" was the equivalent of "its probably wishful thinking"
Hey, our Civilian Security Force will save us and protect us right?

Not to introduce facts into you guys fiction, but African Americans have always voted for the Democratic party at about a 90% clip. In fact they are and have been the Democrats most loyal voting bloc since the days of Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Moreover, before leaving the Republican Party; African Americans supported that party overwhemingly.

actually not FDR, they were strongly GOP then. They voted GOP by atleast a 70 - 30 rate until LBJ and the "Great Society" Welfare program, followed by the spin on the Civil Rights stuff and 'states rights'.

My statements were obviously an oversimplification, however the point that I was attempting to make is that African Americans are typically bloc voters. And truth be told African Americans did not move over to the Democrats en masse, but by 1940 it appears that the majority of northern blacks were democrat and Southern Blacks were split, and the disenfranchised preferred the Republicans. In any event the major shift to the Democratic party seems to be centered around President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal. By the time the "Great Society" had come around in the 1960's, African Americans were already pretty entrenched in the Democratic Party, as can be seen in their support for Kennedy in 1960. President Truman's decision to desegregate the military probably was the major factor that bought the last holdouts into the Democratic fold.
Ironically, the passage of Lyndon Johnson's "Great Society" is what caused many Southern whites to go into the Republican Party.
