Central Michigan Top 25?
Anybody else think the Chips at 6-2 (5-0 MAC) with victory over WMU deserves some votes?

No. Sorry, I just don't think they do. If they had played Georgia tougher, then yes, maybe. Also, that loss to Purdue looks bad now. Purdue is pretty bad this year.

No. They needed to beat Purdue. As a non-BCS team, you really can't have more than one loss and expect to be ranked.

agree. The purdue loss really hurt.
We get a shot at IU next week who beat tip 25 northwestern.
Perhaps a win vs IU then maybe a few votes02-13-banana

Nope.....they lost to what appears to a be a bottom feeder B10 team (Purdue), in a game they blew in the last minute.

The MAC West is having a good year in the computer polls.

I think if you could rank Pitt in the top 25 you could rank CMU, IMO.

If CMU wins out or only loses one game, I think we'll be ranked. The Purdue loss hurts though, although as you pointed out if Pitt can be ranked with a loss to BG, it shouldn't hurt CMU that much after a couple more wins. If CMU continues to win games, and finishes the season with only 2 or 3 losses, we'll be ranked (especially with two losses, meaning a win over Ball State).

It would be cool if the MAC could finish out the season with 2 ranked teams.

You are right a victory over top 15 Ball State on national TV would help catapult CMU into the top 25.

Then from there on out CMU is looking at a reasonable final 3 games:

@Eastern Michigan
MACC
Motor City Bowl

BSU could then win the GMAC and it would look really good for the MAC.

No way. CMU hasn't beaten anyone. Pitt won AT South Florida, beat Iowa and clobbered Navy. That's more impressive than any of CMU's wins. Now, Pitt is losing today to Rutgers, but that's irrelevant to this argument.

I agree we don't have any big wins yet this year, but it doesn't mean CMU isn't a good team. I don't think we should be ranked right now, but if we're 8-2 heading into the BSU game, I think we should at least be getting votes.

Fair enough.

I agree with most here in saying CMU should not be rated. IF they beat NIU and BSU, get to the MACC and win that...for sure! Still a long and difficult road ahead. I would rather be ranked at the end of the season.

NIU is looking very strong. Well coached, sticking to what they do best, and they aren't the same team they were at the beginning of the season.

Wins out -- a very good possibility.
Lose another one -- no way.

If we were to beat a still-ranked Ball State team and improve to at least 8-3, then beat EMU soundly in the last week, it's a possibility, IMHO. Of course, Ball State still hosts NIU, so coming undefeated into Mt. Pleasant is not a given. In that case, we would need to win out, starting with IU, to have a shot at a ranking.

Agreed with most. CMU should only be ranked if we win out and get to 10-2/11-2. If not for that loss to Purdue, I'd be beating the drum, but Central should have been able to get that win.
