RE: America without PC
Before PC we had illegal aliens, now we have undocumented immigrants.
Before PC marriage referred to a man and a woman.
Before PC if you didn't learn to read and speak in English the burden was on you to learn it rather than everyone else learning your language to accommodate you.
Before PC you showed your patriotism by standing up during the playing of our national anthem. Now its PC for some people show their patriotism by burning the flag.
Before PC nativity scenes were allowed on public land.
Before a committee was headed by a chairman. Now its lead by a chairperson.
Before PC everyday language wasn't deemed harmful. Now, PC censorship restricts freedom of speech. It's not PC to use the words "nappy" and "ho" unless you belong to a specific group which would make it OK. It's PC people who want to rename the words used on hard drives - "master and slave" to something else.
It's not PC to refer to people as "you people" when you're specifically addressing those people.
PC prevents us from speaking the 4th word in NAACP.

Nah, we just take it across the board. All professional and NCAA sports teams should have to reserve 74% of their roster slots for 5'10 white guys. Fair's fair.

Professional sports almost always hire the athlete they think will help them win - I have no problem there. But who is more deserving of a scholarhip: A dwarf with an IQ in the top 2% who can't afford tuition or a 7'1" mental midget who can dunk a basketball? I'll go out on a limb here and assume you're for Affirmative Action.

Utopia would be that I didnt have to choose a "master" and lived around others that just wished to live their lives.. non violently..in voluntary association. Obama and McCain would be welcome in that paradigm.
Since that is not possible today...I choose to reject both of these violent men.

What in my post would lead you to believe that I am for affirmitive action?
I think the most qualified person for a position should recieve that position. And I think that businesses and universities are able to determine which person will best serve their needs without government intervention.
I don't think a 5'10 guy with a 20 inch vertical would make a very good forward for an NBA team, just like I don't believe that a less motivated individual, with a poor academic and job record deserves a position in a company over a more qualified individual simply because of their race.
What is the difference?

Don't discount the fact that many of these "studies" programs are exactly what some non-profits and NGO are looking for when they hire.
You want to work in the third world as a "Devolpment Strategist?" Some PC studies degrees will open doors for you as fast as a Finance degree.

Another good reason for getting rid of them.

I would say it prepares for job in education teaching African American, Women, International, Asian, etc. Studies. I do not understand why people have to take social studies in college anyway.

I have no problems with your first sentence whatsoever. A person's race or gender should have no factor in the hiring process.
On your second sentence i believe that should be some monitoring because i believe a person's race or gender should have no factor in the hiring process.
If qualified applicants are being disqualified because of their race or gender, that is just just as wrong as them hired because of their race or gender.

I always looked at college as a way to prepare me for a career, but I just don't see those as career building studies. What can you do with those degrees other than teach courses in those degrees?
Really, I'm not trying to start a racial or other thing, but what is the value? It is very possible that I am being shortsighted, but I still would like to understand it.
At one time, higher education was looked at as more than just a glorified ITT technical training. People used to value education for it's own sake, for it's ability to help them understand the world around them. Some people still take that view, quaint though it may seem.
But these identity studies majors can prepare students for many professions. Teaching, forgein development, & community service/non-profit/NGOs have already been mentioned (though primary & secondary education should have been included). But many professions simply require a college degree, with no specific major required (think consulting). Identity studies are also perfect majors for pre-med & pre-law students (particularly if one wants to go into a field related to employment law or other types of discrimination) as well.
