I have a little different thought on this, though admittedly it is not exclusively mine. Bear with me and my broad brush…..

The media is in some large percentage in bed with the Obama and / or electing Democrats to power. The journalism profession today is littered and rife with men and women who believe they are Speaking Truth to Power , not simply reporting the news. There is little objective MSM reporting nowadays, or at least it is few and far between – and many (powerful) members of the MSM are actively campaigning for the Democratic sweep in November. This is not new information, but until this election, it was never just so…….. obvious.

In order to assist this Democratic ascension to the throne, the MSM will continue to aggrandize and overstate the actual state of the economy, but only until Nov 4th and the inevitable Obama victory. The reporting on the economy will change that evening to show that the economy is “turning around” and “stabilizing” and “in recovery”, thus removing any economic responsibility from the new Administration.

The next Democratic administration will have all the help needed to communicate to the public that the economy is not the issue we think it is – and they will ride that message of recovery well into the 2012 elections.

Always blaming the MSM, maybe republicans should look in the mirror once in a while. If the MSM were always behind democrats how did the Republicans get elected in 1994, how come 7 of our last 10 presidents were Republicans? You only want to blame the media when things aren't going your way. It's like blaming the refs when you are losing.

The MSM always turns against the party perceived to be in power. I am sure there will be this little fact and that little scandel showing up after election day no matter who is elected. Unless a Congressman is in one of the few swing districts, he or she can do pretty much anything unless it involves, a racial epithet, a hooker, a dead girl or an underage sex partner.

Ninerfan1 Wrote:I actually disagree. I think the market rebounds and we're in recovery about a year to 2 years from now. Obama will take credit, though it will have zero to do with him, and he'll get reelected.

That of course assumes he doesn't raise taxes in the middle of all this. If that happens the economy will still be suffering and he'll get voted out.

Not an exact parallel, but it reminds me of the closing portion of Bush Presidency V1.0. Remember, Clinton basically campaigned on "It's The Economy, Stupid." And it worked. Of course, the economy cycled up and, though he had little, really, to do with that success, he rode that to two terms.

A similar scenario could play out here with Obama riding the "The Economy Sucks, Let's Blame The Party In Power" wave into the White House. Then, should the economy rebound within the next three years, people will be less likely to want a change.

Then again, I still see this not as a recession, but The Great Depression II. And three-plus years won't be nearly enough to pull us out of the mire.

Oh, I FULLY understand that any MSM bias is but a small concern when presented in concert with the reality of today's disfunctional Republican Party.

But I do stand by my thought that this economic mess will move off the front page with a Democratic administration.
