RE: Recruit
Yes Rivals still shows him committed, but according to EMU Steve, he changed his mind and decided he wasn't a Div I QB?! so he's looking at different schools.

RE: Recruit
I watched part of the game. Chroninger got a lot of play.

They mentioned many times that he decommitted from Eastern.

Has offers from several MAC schools but is holding out for a Big East or ACC offers.

Apparently he is a MAC-level recruit, but I'm not sure. What I saw wasn't overly impressive.

But coming from DeMatha he might get rated higher then simply talent alone.

Regardless, I had him low I-A. Apparently he is ranked a little higher then that.

I have no idea where he'll end up. There are no MAC schools in the D.C. area. Does he want to play in the midwest?

I also caught that part of the game. The commentator said that the primary concern of EMU coaches would be that the kid goes to a different MAC school.

The kid looks like a decent prospect. Good arm and ability to run a little. Seemed to have a little fire in his belly too. But given his size of about 6'0" and 180lbs I doubt he'll get those ACC or Big East offers. He's a MAC-type prospect.

He did look better than some of EMU's QB's of the past. Remember Woody's boy Akina?

I would like to see the Indiana redshirt frosh Beierwalter and the prop Brown and see what they can do. EMU has offered other QBs so the eggs aren't in one basket.

RE: Recruit
I did watch more of the Chroninger game from ESPN2. He did play well after a slow start.

Definitely a good MAC prospect (I'm upgrading my opinion of him).

He moves very well, very good runner, etc. Better arm then I thought.

As W'Nickle says he is being recruited by a number of MAC schools.

I could see him at say Buffalo, Temple, etc.

I think J.D. at Akron would like him - reminds me a lot of Jacquemain the current Akron QB.

Agree.

Dennis treats verbals like Kurergaands (sp) those gold coins folks hold or held - he holds them (verbals) near and dear.

Chroniger, even if he did come to EMU, would not be a messiah but join a large stable of QBs or QB prospects (as Cowboy notes).

We are NOT lacking in numbers at that position and we have QBs who are juniors, sophs, frosh, etc.

I prefer to look at a recruiting class in January and Feb. (rather then Oct and worry about a kids game-by-game) and look at the class as a whole and try to feret out those recruits who appear to have big upside (many do not).

In other words, maybe 8 - 10 will have a big upside, another 10 are prospects and probably the rest are 'reaches' (fillers to add a player at a position).

We wouldn't know about Chroniger for maybe a year or two. He might be a good prospect but Kyle is there so Chroniger could have gotten 'stuck' behind Kyle for two years.

RE: Recruit
I didn't mean to slight Jason Williams who redshirted last year and had some very decent high schools stats in Ohio. He is definitely in the QB mix as well.

And lets not forget over half of our present TEs started out as walk on QBs.
