I'll have to watch the clip of the run, but I am not quite sure 'speed' was used by the returner to catch him.

I absolutely love GW...believe me. It seems as though I may be overreaching here..perhaps so, but I still find it hard to belive that he looks the same (as he did) to all the other faithful.

The returner was in front of him and saw the whole play develop. That was a great fake - you aren't going to get many better than that.

+1 When I first saw it, I thought he should have scored. But seeing the view from an endzone camera changed my mind. the punt returner was in front of him and you could also see other guys were coming up on his side if he tried to cut back to the middle of the field.

Agreed. No other RB in the NFL could have avoided being tackled on that play. Plus he was outrunning everyone he was in front of. Speed was not an issue.

No commentary yet re: grass vs turf speed...ya.... I know all players on both sides are competing on same surface but GW sorta looks faster when on field turf than sod .

Turner would have blown him up or dragged him into the endzone with him.

There were other defenders coming from the middle of the field. Even Turner would have gone down.

It's not that the speed of the others have changed..not at all. His initial burst looks more labored. He used to look like he was shot out of a cannon. Even yesterday...he had major room to run and he just seemed...well, not blazing. And, he runs lacking that something special. I wonder if it's just his lack of confidence that he hopefully will gain with more playing time (if that ever happens). Is it a few more pounds? Something. Is it just me? I don't know, the GW at NIU would have taken that to the house yesterday.

I still say that he will make a name for himself, but I did notice the above.

GW has been suffering from hamstring injury.
He's always hurt. Can't get away with it in the NFL like he did in college. One of the elite college running backs I've ever seen play, sadly it seems like his doubters were right.

I cant say the doubters are right until he is given a chance at the NFL level. To this date, he has not received a chance from a team that cannot in any way shape or form judge NFL talent. Jury is still out.

Yea, how can you ever show anything when you get 0 carries? Or like last year, 1-2 carries with no blocking? This is not a representative sample. In college he'd have a few mediocre plays and then a 50-yard run. When you only get a couple carries, what are the odds (especially with the Bears O-line, see Matt Forte's 3.3 ypc effort last game) that you get a good run?

You guys are right. I'm obviously a big fan of GW, but c'mon. I'm sick and tired of people ripping on Wolfe for his lack of production and his size and all that crap. Remember last season when the Bears put Wolfe in when they were backed up on like they're two yard line against the Vikings and they gave the ball to Wolfe on a run up the middle?? How dumb was that? I guess he was trying to "surprise the defense." Yeah, right. Ron Tuner may be the worst offensive coordinator in the history of football.

I always thought Wolfe was a good comparison to Darren Sproles, maybe not as fast but still has the elusiveness and quickness as well as the same body stature. The only difference is the Chargers are not afraid to use the guy in the right situations.
