I am also no Obama fan, but I can just see some commercials coming where they take just this line "the McCain campaign is making an issue out of my Muslim religion." IMO, he just made a mistake plain & simple so this kind of stuff would bother me.

Now, when they bring up the pastor of 20 years & what he says and Obama attending & listening to that stuff.......I don't have a problem with that.

I agree that he misspoke and corrected himself to some degree. But those types of gaffes that get play on the news, hurt. You know that Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, etc. played that clip over and over. He also stammers and stutters a bit when asked a question. That will hurt in the debates. You'd have thought that all those debates will Hillary would have helped him with that. Anyway, McCain answers quickly and directly. And when he avoids a question he does so seamlessly whereas Obama hasn't quite learned that art. Maybe Joe Biden will teach him. Mr. Obama what's your policy on drilling on the ANWR. Biden would answer: That reminds me of my great grandfather Sam Biden who worked on the coal mines. The mine blew up and a couple of his friends died. It was very sad and.... Sorry Mr. Biden your time is up. Obama. Ummmm, I want to respect the environment and we need to stop using so much gas, so I would not drill because it wouldn't do much good. Palin. I hunt Caribou, I've eaten them, they'll be plenty of caribou left even if we drill in ANWR.

you forgot "and I love America"

Obama is actually better with the quick comebacks when somebody is pressuring him like on the O'reilly interview, than if you gave him 30 seconds of dead air. It's like he looses his train of thought when he has time to say something.

Nothing surprising about the NC polls....Lots of Jesse Helms fascists still around and the military vote will go solidly to Mr. McFearmonger.

More Bad news for Barry.

White Women Shift to McCain as Republican Erodes Obama Lead on Change, Enthusiasm

Quote:White women have moved from 50-42 percent in Obama's favor before the conventions to 53-41 percent for McCain now, a 20-point shift in the margin that's one of the single biggest post-convention changes in voter preferences. The other, also to McCain's advantage, is in the battleground Midwest, where he's moved from a 19-point deficit to a 7-point edge.

From what I've seen of this campaign season, none of the candidates have been able to do this for long.

Certainly the republicans fell on their face 2 years ago.

On Wednesday at 10:25am PST Fox News said McCain is up 48 to 43. Very encouraging, IMO.

You have to go by state polls. The national ones mean nothing.

You're probably right, but I'd still rather be up than down, agreed?

RE: Looking at the polls...
National polls show trends and the state polls are lagging indicators as those state polls are old in some state. Washington, Oregon and New Jersey are now within 5 points and that will force OBama to spend money to defend those states that he assumed he had locked up a month ago. Palin is helping bring in the Pacific Northwest vote and that gives MCCain more outs should OBama pickoff Colorado, Nevada, Virginia or Ohio. MCCain just has to hold the states that Bush won in either 2000 or 2004. MCCain is peaking at the right time. Palin was impressive once again in the Charles Gibson/ABC interview. She was very direct and confident with her responses to the questions. She didn't make any mistakes. Very strong support of Isreal and Georgia. Very carefull at not making the mistake that Obama made in primary about invading Pakistan. Hillary slammed OBama for that reckless statement in New Hampshire Debate and Palin was smart to no go as far as Obama did.

Your comments on Palin are out of touch with reality. She was not impressive and I'd say it's very questionable she didn't make any mistakes. Her answers on Russia and specifically on the Bush Doctorine are going to make a lot of headlines and make a lot of people worry.

Look, you're biased for her and I'm biased against her. But you have to admit her answers and body language are going to provide fodder for the media to attack her performance. Whether it resonates with anyone I don't know - many of those people don't know what the Bush Doctorine is either. But I doubt anyone but a diehard McCain-Palin supporter would say she was impressive. Just pretty rehearsed.

RE: Looking at the polls...
Right now the trends just aren't going Obama's way.

National

Gallup McCain +3

Rasmussen McCain +3

Hotline/FD Tracking McCain +1

AP McCain +4

States

Star Tribune MN Tie (Obama had been +10)

Rasmussen NV McCain +3

Rasmussen SD McCain +17 (a Red State Obama thought he could turn Blue)

Univ of Cincy OH McCain +4

In the wake of Sarah Palin, John McCain has opened up a 15-point lead among independents, according to a new Gallup Poll — and Barack Obama has a real problem.
