OU President Roderick McDavis began his speech by apologizing for his hoarseness — he spent yesterday cheering for the football team in their game against Ohio State University. McDavis said OSU President E. Gordon Gee “was going on and on about The Ohio State University,” which prompted McDavis to defend his alma mater.

“The Ohio University was founded in 1804, the first university outside of the original 13 colonies and the finest university in the country,” he said.

McDavis also discussed themes of community, citizenship, civility, character and commitment as important parts of the promise of Ohio University.

McDavis ended his speech by saying “Go Bobcats” to applause from the crowd.

Relapses are an expected part of recovery AKC but the important thing is that you get back to meetings as quickly as possible. You went several weeks without writing "flagship" and that's great but you have to take it one day at a time for real. The support is here -use it. No one wants to see you go down that road again. Let's hope it's an isolated incident and he hasn't fallen off the wagon completely. I'd hate to see a messy intervention.

I'm in favor of anything that confronts the hubris of Zero State.

The first three students enrolled in 1808. Ohio University graduated two students with bachelor's degrees in 1815.

Four years to find three students, and seven more to graduate someone.
