RE: is Buffalo sold out
I've heard reports we've had 11,000-12,000 season tickets sold, but I don't have any sources for that figure. I wouldn't be surprised to see at least 20k for the home opener. I think they're hoping for the students to come pack 3 sections.

The Buffalo Bills final pre-season game is sold out, and that is on at the same time as the Bulls game. That is no doubt going to hurt our attendance numbers. I know there are still tickets available, and UB does a pretty decent business with walk-ups on the day of the game. UB has also been advertising this game like crazy on TV. Nonetheless, Buffalo is first and foremost a pro town, and anything that isn't the Bills or Sabres gets second billing at best.

I certainly have my season tickets and I'm ready for football04-cheers

Fantastic news from Buffalo.

It going to be really interesting to see if UB can develop a fanbase if Turner Gill begins to make some bowl games.

If that's true, that's awesome. Buffalo's stadium has the potential to really rock with a good crowd there. It should help immensely when they beat a rebuilding UTEP team.

The other home games this week are:

Northeastern@ Ball State
Indiana State@EMU
Eastern Illinois@CMU
Vanderbilt@Miami

The only one I have much hope for a good crowd is Miami.

Kent State vs Boston College will get a decent showing but unless they manage to have 40,000+ in attendance, it will feel empty and it won't look good on TV.

I bet CMU for EIU will have a larger home crowd than Miami for Vandy.

Buffalo is not sold out but I received a release a couple of days ago stating that season ticket sales were approaching 11,000 --- which is still very good news.

I've heard that CMU has sold over 20K so far for this game. With a walk-up crowd they could have mid 20's for the game. Pretty good, IMO.

We're expecting between 20-25,000 for tonight's game in Mt. Pleasant.

Wow, congrats to Buffalo! That is impressive, especially with the current state of the economy.

I don't get why UB played tonight. I not only cost them a few paying fans, but took away viewers for the TW broadcast. I would have gone out to the game if it was on Saturday.

Announced attendance was 16-thousand something. I thought there was actually more than that.

There's no way the game sells out with a Bills game going on at the same time. This is also the last week before school (< college) starts. I know a lot of people who went on vacation this week. All that combined with a really weak student turnout added up to a lot of empty seats.

CMU in fact did have a better crowd than Miami

Miami vs. Vandy 18,398
CMU vs. EIU 19,732

If you expect the SEC to come to MAC schools, you have to do better than 18,000. MAC gotta fix that promblem

I thought the same thing. There are some games where you look at the announced attendance and say - whoa, no way. But I was surprised the number was that low. Both grandstands seemed pretty full.

Hopefully, the low number was due to the Bills game. It poured rain that afternoon, but weather was great by game time. I recorded the broadcast and watched it the next morning- ironically Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas were at the Bulls game! They showed them on the sideline joking with Reggie Witherspoon.

Man, times have changed for football in Buffalo.

RE: is Buffalo sold out
We need a Saturday game time to max out attendance. The Thursday night game vs Vandy made sense vs playing over the Labor Day weekend (when many students are gone), but many alums are too far away to take a couple of days off to go to a game. OTOH, the students did come out in force and packed the away side, at least for a half until we weren't competitive in the game. You put Vandy on a mid September Saturday and it'd be a sell out I would think...that's still only 24K or so.
