That actually may not be all that bad. I think that's probably a shorthand way of saying 50 states plus DC. I think I've actually seen that wording before myself.

While you are more than likely correct, if you had seen the entire request, you would see that: 1) the "senior" had a very poor understanding of the written English language 2) did not understand business organizations, and 3) did not understand the forms issued by their own state to be used in determining the annual taxes.

I just don't see how these people can rise up into elevated positions in the state governments.

I'm not attacking Obama as much as I'm saying... so what?? If you watched the interview... it went back and forth between Iraq and Afghanistan.... I don't know if he meant Iraq AND Afghanistan borders (meaning the entire borders of the two countries, not any shared border) or the Iraq, Iran border or the Afghanistan/Pakistan border... but I guarantee that he knows there is no border between the two... Just like I guarantee that Obama knows there aren't fifty seven states... he probably meant to say 47 states... plus the one I haven't been to yet... plus Alaska and Hawaii that my staff won't let me go to... (as a joke)

Believe me, Obama's supporters (including some on this page) have had more than a field day with McCain... and let's not even start with Bush.

What SHOULD we have done... yeah, you're right... McCain's an idiot because he made a mistake talking about countries he's actually been to representing people, 90% of whom couldn't find either country on a map. I'm betting half this country couldn't correctly locate Alabama, or tell you what states border it.

As for the contextual information, I have no doubt about what you say. Hey, "51 states" might have been the most coherent part of the whole message.
