Little Johnny on Obama !
A teacher in Blaine , Washington asked her 6th grade class how many of them were Obama fans.
Not really knowing what an Obama fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their
Hands except for little Johnny.
The teacher asked little Johnny why he has decided to be different...again.
Little Johnny said, "Because I'm not an Obama fan."
The teacher asked, "Why aren't you an Obama fan?"
Johnny said, "Because I'm a Republican."
The teacher asked him why he's a Republican.
Little Johnny answered, "Well, my Mom's a Republican and my Dad's a Republican, so I'm a Republican."
Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked,
"If your Mom was a moron and your Dad was an idiot, what would that make you?"
With a big smile, little Johnny replied, "That would make me an Obama fan !"

While I do agree (not a Republican, just a Hillary supporter who can't stand Obama), I didn't realize the board was where we could post stuff that sounds like a political chain-letter type e-mail. Who knew...
Don't be surprised if this thread turns into some type of argument, most OT threads do (like that "stolen Eucharist" thread). Should be fun to watch.

Conservative criticism of Barack Obama isn't anything to write home about.
If you're a conservative and you want to impress me? Say something praiseworthy about John McCain.

McCain doesn't want to tax me to death in order to support tons of social programs for those who have chosen not to work to support themselves.

RE: Little Johnny on Obama !
He's voted against every congressional pay raise since the 80's, and given the ultimate raise to charity... he's also given every dollar from his books to charity. Now, you can cynically say that he didn't need the money... but that certainly never stopped John Kerry or any other rich politician from either party.
Read his 1973 story about his time in Vietnam. If you are willing to listen, you will hear someone who understands history, and understands that how WE think isn't always how our enemies think... and that when you get inside the heads of your enemy, you will be more effective... regardless of your goal. Germany, Japan, Korea, Iran, Al-Quaeda and Vietnam clearly understood/understand psych-ops... but we simply don't get it in this country... and never have. We are our own worst enemy, and those who use OUR perspective in an attempt to reach agreement with others are as much a part of the problem as the enemy.
NOBODY understands this better than John McCain... and he has a history of "winning" without simply insisting on being bigger or stronger than his opponent. He didn't "win" in Vietnam in the conventional sense. He would have won by taking the easy way out and being sent home. He chose the hard route because it was better for his fellow captives, and better for this country... even though it personally cost him a good chunk of his life and his health.
THAT is the kind of President I want... one who can win without being a bully, and does the right thing, even when its not easy or popular. I don't agree with 100% of his positions, but I have faith and proof that when he does important things, he doesn't start from what HE stands to gain and work backwards from there.

The story of his current marriage completely destroys that arguement.(unless you think marriage is not important.)
Next.

RE: Little Johnny on Obama !
And what do YOU know of his marriage??
He was married in 1965 to a woman who had been married before and had two children, which he adopted, they had another child, and in 1967 he was taken prisoner. In 1969, she had a bad car accident which crippled her. He didn't see his wife again until 1973. Needless to say, they weren't the same people that had married in 1965. They tried to remain married for the sake of all three children, but the bottom line was.... they missed out on the "formative" years of their marriage, and instead became caretakers of eachother. It wasn't really healthy for any of them, and they are generally pretty good friends.
He married another woman in 1980, and has been married to her since then... 28 years.
Yeah... what a crappy example he is. I'm sure that after only 2 years of marriage and 6 years in captivity and torture that YOU'D be the same man your wife married.
John McCain was my father's roomate at the academy and was in my parents wedding. I've met him and talked to him on numerous occassions in a private, not public setting. My mother consoled Carol when John was shot down. She's a fine person, but she would never have wanted the public life that John has had. Carol was an extroverted model when they married, but was much more of a "behind the scenes" sort of person after her accident. Don't get me wrong... still active... she just lost her desire for the spotlight. Given the dramatic change in her physical appearance (she was about 6 inches shorter after her accident) you can understand her lack of desire for the spotlight. That's not a sin, but it was hardly the woman John married in 1965. They were both just "different".
She and John are still VERY close, and she supports his presidential bid. As bad as it might sound, how many ex-wives so vocally support their exes??

Unlike John F. Kerry, McCain earned and deserved his medals during Vietnam.
Its been said numerous times, that if McCain's father wasn't CINCPAC during the Vietnam War, the Medal of Honor given to Adm. James Stockdale would have gone to McCain...
Citation: For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while senior naval officer in the Prisoner of War camps of North Vietnam. Recognized by his captors as the leader in the Prisoners' of War resistance to interrogation and in their refusal to participate in propaganda exploitation, Rear Adm. Stockdale was singled out for interrogation and attendant torture after he was detected in a covert communications attempt. Sensing the start of another purge, and aware that his earlier efforts at self-disfiguration to dissuade his captors from exploiting him for propaganda purposes had resulted in cruel and agonizing punishment, Rear Adm. Stockdale resolved to make himself a symbol of resistance regardless of personal sacrifice. He deliberately inflicted a near-mortal wound to his person in order to convince his captors of his willingness to give up his life rather than capitulate. He was subsequently discovered and revived by the North Vietnamese who, convinced of his indomitable spirit, abated in their employment of excessive harassment and torture toward all of the Prisoners of War. By his heroic action, at great peril to himself, he earned the everlasting gratitude of his fellow prisoners and of his country. Rear Adm. Stockdale's valiant leadership and extraordinary courage in a hostile environment sustain and enhance the finest traditions of the U.S. Naval Service.

Hambone pretty much nailed it but I'd like to add a little:
If you want to measure people by their marital convictions then where would Willy Clinton stand? Or Jesse Jackson? JFK? LA mayor Antonio Villaragosa? Everyone in Hollywood?
I don't think being divorced automatically means a person is of low morals. Some marriages just weren't meant to be and some were doomed because one person in it couldn't uphold his/her obligations. Some divorces are simply the recognition of a mistake made by two people and not because one or both people are unsavory.

But McCain fully supports taxing my ass to maintain the bloated industrial military complex.... which is the largest benefactor of taxation.
Both parties are flipsides of the same big goverment coin and neither side has a damn right to point a finger at anyone but themselvses for the problems.
How about lets stop this overblown parasite of a government?
I choose to not support either warfare or welfare with my stolen wages.
I fully support "defense" and "helping those in need" but the scale of each is totally outragous.
