<<It cannot be denied that while Davis has raised the talent bar at UAB, he has certainly lowered the academic bar.>>

My brother, the past is always better. The women were hotter, the beer tasted better and the basketball players were all real students. I prefer living with an edited memory, too.

It wasn't that way. Women had 80's big hair. You couldn't even get Sam Adams in Birmingham because the Schilleci family decided all we needed was Bud. Eighties New Wave alternative passed Birmingham by - hell, you could only hear the Replacements in beer commercials in between the c&w crap blaring from 22 stations.

And things were done to make/keep players eligible. Mike Davis has disappointed me many times, but he did not lower the academic bar. It was set very low, long ago. And that's without even considering how many players should have worn #13.

The good ones don't need no real degree.

1. Our program is not yet at the point where it consistently puts out pro players. Our guys are going to need to make a living after they get out of school and are through playing hoops, be it NBA, NBA Dev League, Europe, whatever.

2. I'm idealistic enough to still think that a college player should at the very least be offered the chance to get his education and do something with his life beyond sticking a ball through a hoop.

Why don't we let the guy (Millsaps) show us what he can do before we judge him?

One trait this coaching staff and administration has displayed is
at UAB you'll have to earn your degree.04-cheers
If you don't produce in the classroom05-mafia, you're not getting the passing grade.
