Looking for Robert Wagner?
Touche.
Wiki says
On November 29, 1981, Natalie Wood drowned after falling off their yacht Splendour while sailing near Catalina Island...
Hey, you know what kind of wood does not float?
Natalie Wood.
Been years since I got to use that joke. Heheh.

I am glad I didn't marry her.
Not that I had the opportunity.

RE: What do we need to do to position our selves for inclusion to the Big East?
I think money/winning/facilities are important... but as it was suggested, I think that neglecting the academic/overall university profile would be naive. Indeed, it is an athletic conference that we're discussing, but presidents of universities are the final authority on such matters, and they want to make a wise move in terms of not just athletics, but a match from an academic/overall university profile.
I also don't think winning is nearly as important as suggested. It certainly makes it easier to gain fans and better facilities, but some programs that do NOT win on a consistent basis have made it to the BCS level because of facilities and money. UAB needs to continue to work its alumni and attempt to get them hooked from an early stage. With the kind of wealthy people UAB produces through our medical, engineering, and business programs, there is certainly a wealth of opportunity available to us. The trick is continuing to try to foster a love for UAB amongst our graduates. THAT is the key. If they love the university, they will give money and support UAB with their attendance.
It's a chicken or egg question to a certain extent in terms of money/facilities and winning, and though they're intertwined, I don't personally believe that winning is an absolute requirement in order to build the program. In fact, just because we win doesn't necessarily solve the issue of apathy that's present in many UAB alumni. So as far as I'm concerned, faith and loyalty of alumni would be as important of an issue as any.
