RE: Summer Basketball Scrimmages
Well, back to the original question: summer basketball scrimmages - when and where? Somebody said 5 P.M., but it seems that last summer it was more like 3 P.M., Bartow Arena. Also, it seems that they started well into the summer, closer to the fall semester, when just about all the team was on campus. Anybody know for sure????

My son participates in the Mike Davis basketball camp and the dates he goes are June 16th - 19th this year. He went the same week last year and the players participated and then had pick up games afterwards at appox. 5:00. When camp is not in session they'll pick it up at 3:00. Sometimes there will be Bartow conflicts and they'll move to Wallace Gym.
Someone posted the slam dunk exhibition last year where the players were putting on a clinic for the kids. That happened to be the same week Little BlazerDave participated.
They should start up soon if not already.
Where's ShelbyCo when we need him?
Go Blazers!

I actually don't think City Stages suck. They may not have acts that I get excited about but it is a good thing for Birmingham. Plus the tickets are cheap. I went last year to see Morris Day & The Time and that performance right there was worth my $25 spent. But I will be in Vegas this Father Day Weekend otherwise I would have went to City Stages. Still may go Friday Nite. On a side note; the Crawfish Bowl lineup was better than the current City Stages lineup.

I'll be going to Bonnaroo. A much-better music festival here in Manchester, Tennessee. It's the same weekend as City Stages.
Actually, it moved off of Father's day for a few years, then moved back.
As to comparing City Stages to Bonnaroo - City Stages now has a contract with the same company that produces Bonnaroo. Bonnaroo has for some years now had a exclusivity clause in their contract that prevents acts that play Bonnaroo from playing anywhere within a mileage radius and date range of Bonnaroo. It means none of those 150 or so acts can be scheduled at City Stages.
Nice raking of George McMillan and City Stages over the coals at the current Black and White. http://www.bwcitypaper.com/Articles-i-20..._Hand.html

If you want to go to a music festival, check out Summerfest in Milwaukee.
They have a permanent music park on the lake and IT ROCKS!!!
