Do you see the Big 10 or the SEC giving up their New Year's Day slot in the Outback Bowl anytime soon?

Neither do I.

Big East needs a permanent #2 Bowl slot...and as long as ND and the Big 12 are involved with the Gator Bowl...that will never change.

KL, how do you know this? Is this your opinion, or do you have some contacts/inside info from the bowl committee. Anything can change. I would say it is actually likely this sharing agreement will be dropped. But who know, none of us are Conference commisioners and/or bowl committee members (I assume). Never say never.

Actually, as another poster correctly pointed out, the Big East is stuck in this silly agreement with the Gator/Sun/Big 12/ND till 2009...so...till then...nothing will change.

Big East needs a permanent #2 Bowl Slot...and as long as ND has access to the #2 Big East Bowl Slot...one can also say that the Big East Football Conference Members (8 currently) don't have a permanent home.

well if the conf stays as it is.. ND will have some tie ins to other bowls.. BE may drop them to only 1 of 4 years in gator.. after BE gets it back fulltime in 2010. I could also see ND only getting charlotte 1 time.. and same for #3 and #4. which would be better for BE fb members and ND still keeps itself covered.

After 09 the Gator will be Big East/ND vs ACC mark my words. Now if our commish has any balls he will fight like hell for ND to not be taken more than one in 4 years or walk away from it and work with Meineke to raise funds and give them our #2. Let the Gator try to survive with Big12-ND deal.

Your Big East Commish can't even get one of its members (ND) to agree to any new home-home football series with other Big East Members.

Believe that might answer your question above.

Doubt we would be talking about the same commish if the football schools heard of any deal with the gator worse than that

OK, yes the next 2 years it won't change, but I think it is likely to change after 09 back to BE/ND without the B12.

I also can't see ND getting only 1 of 4 years. I think in order to keep the Gator full time, the BE will probably have to offer up ND 2 out of 4 years. At least that would be better than it is now. The sun bowl doesn't really work for BE schools.

Also, the BE needs to fast track the St Pete bowl into a big time bowl. Nothing against CUSA, but make this a BCS/BCS matchup ASAP (especially since USF will get stuck playing here a lot). Move this bowl into the #3 or 4 BE bowl and increase payout.
