Kennesaw Mountain's Spencer Dixon signs with Owls
May 15, 2008
KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State head coach Tony Ingle has announced that Spencer Dixon has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Kennesaw State University and play for the Owls beginning in the 2008-09 season in a statement released this morning at the KSU Convocation Center.
"Getting Spencer here is great for our program," said Ingle on his freshman recruit. "He is a good shooter with great court sense and should fill a need for us in the future."
Dixon is a local product who enjoyed a stellar prep career at Kennesaw Mountain High School. The six-foot guard averaged 24 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the Mustangs last season.
A premier shooter, Dixon was ranked as the 84th best player in the state of Georgia last season and was also named the Most Valuable Player of the Bishop Moore Classic where he scored a tournament high 34 points in the Championship Game against Fort Myers.
The sharpshooter also enjoyed a 31-point night in which he connected on a season-high, six-three pointers against Roswell High School. He also scored a game-high 22 points against rival North Cobb High School.
"Spencer can make a shot from anywhere on the floor and that's something we need," added Ingle. "Not only is he a very good basketball player, but Spencer is also a serious student-athlete and a quality young man."
A sought after recruit, Dixon picked Kennesaw State over numerous Division I programs including Presbyterian, Charleston Southern, Tennessee Tech, UNC Asheville and the Air Force Academy.
