O'Leary finding ways to get an edge
Imagine Marshall's spring football practice ending today, after playing the Green-White game last Saturday.

Piques your curiosity, doesn't it?

What if MU head coach Mark Snyder had decided to save two of the three NCAA-mandated, shorts-and-helmets practices and utilized them after the spring game?

I pose that question because one Conference USA football coach did exactly that.

And wouldn't you know it? It was the guy who is the best coach in the league, in my book. It was the coach who always seems to find an edge.

It was Central Florida's George O'Leary.

Thanks for posting this Herdfan 4Life! BTW...I was able to book a room at the Holiday Inn in Huntington for the UCF/Marshall game this November. I had to call the hotel directly to get the room though because their website indicated there were no rooms available. We're jacked to be coming up that way...hear gameday in H'Ton is awesome!!

Actually, I believe the practices after the scrimmage were due to Ereck Plancher's untimely death. The practices were moved from before the scrimmage to after, and they were shorter than what they would have been.

They indeed were rescheduled due to the Plancher tragedy. However you do bring up an interesting point as to whether or not practices after the spring games would be helpful or not. You would definitely have an understanding of what needs to be worked on/improved. You may be on to something …

it's always a good idea to practice after a game.... players are different in game situations, especially younger ones. Games let you see what you really need to work on
