Great news for them, but bad news for us in my opinion. GSU will now start to attract better students because of this and many kids who end up at ksu will now possibly choose gsu instead. This may also make it less likely that we will ever get a team as the admin may feel that there is no need to have 2 1-aa teams in the same area. Overall, I think this hurts our chances of getting a team any time soon, but good for them. It should attract a lot more students who are interested in going to school there.

They're beating us. The transition is what hurt us on the timing aspect. I think there's enough attraction in Kennesaw to warrent a D-I team even with GSU having football.

I don't think many students that visit GSU and visit Kennesaw will choose GSU for a football team. It isn't like the football team is going to the Rose bowl anytime soon :). Frankly after being on campus of both schools, I have absolutely no idea why anyone would choose GSU. It is truly a concrete jungle in the middle of a dangerous section of Atlanta.

They have the jumpstart on us in football, but I doubt it translates into any enrollment success, and I definitely don't think it will effect our ability or desire to get a football team. Definitely congrats to GSU, they are doing what they can, but I don't see this effecting Kennesaw one bit.

I imagine logistics will be worked out now that funding has been approved.

I heard they are trying to raise 6 to 9 million dollars for a downtown practice facility. I agree that it is going to show a little improvement for GSU in the short-run but its going to hurt them playing in the dome and not have an on-campus stadium. Look at Tulane they play in the Superdome and they draw very little support. I still believe that if we can get our team up and running at KSU we will be able to compete with both Ga Southern and GSU for recruits. We just need to find some people to get behind KSU. For the financial impact and services that KSU provides to Cobb and the Northwest section of GA we get very little support from businesses and government in these areas. We need more support to lobby the state to get KSU their proper share. KSU has always be underfunded by the state and it has always still succeeded but we need more money.

Things needed for a big start to the football program:

1. Money and lots of it...this is being worked on
2. Proper planning for on-campus arena. This is a must...we only need 15-20,000 seats max right now, with the ability to expand to 30,000 if necessary
3. Huge success in the men's basketball program. This might sound silly, but this is what is going to bring in #1. This is a heavy load for our basketball program to carry, but it can be done. If you look at the moderate success we have had so far during a time period when most schools fail miserably (see North Florida), I think are future is looking bright. Our recruiting classes continue to improve, and our program is getting more established in the Atlanta Market. Basketball success will bring interest to the university...

Football will happen, but it will still be several years.

Didn't know if you guys had seen this yet. It seems to mention an "enhanced athletic fee" in the last paragraph.

RE: Congrats to GA ST they have offically added Football
I did a little research and the increase is from $117 to $142 making a $25 increase year over year. This should add a little more then a million dollars to the schools athletic budget for current sports. The athletic fee increase to prepare the school for football would have to be in the $85 to $105 range. I believe the increase is just due to the state getting pressure this year about us moving to DI and needing more funding. Our Athletic Budget is near the bottom of all DI schools and we still do pretty well.

Thanks for pointing out the increase larry85
