He may not, but Im sure Huggs has a backup plan. Besides, I dont think he was supposed to contribute right away. Jones and Bryant are supposed to play early and often. Huggs has at least 1 scholarship remaining, but could have 2 if Davis is pushed back to a 09 recruit.

I pretty much said what you said about Devendorf, that they would have 2 PG's playing, and he would probably slide over to the SG position (he's a deadly three point shooter) which will help him out that more, plus force opponents to contend with 2 PG's capable of shooting from outside or both capable of penetrating. If Donte Green doesn't go pro (according to NBAdraft.net), then Syracuse will be very tough next season.

Only thing I can think is that maybe I didn't give them enough credit. But I did imply that they will contend.

All points agreed upon. I guess the only area where we differ is their final ranking. And, the BE is so hard to predict anyway, because there's very little seperation between 5-9.

I see you took down your B'East championship prediction. Good idea.

Remember Don? A very long time ago he and several others were telling you what you have just realized.

Uh.....no. My Big East Championship prediction was always '09-'10. Sorry.

And the reason that works is, as you can see, UC's youth will be peaking and most of these other teams will be losing their "experience" and key players.

Also, predicting UC to finish in the bottom 4 next year, isn't "living in reality"???? I think it does.

One thing that always bothered me about the Don-worshippers, was that he never really said anything that we all didn't already know, unless it was just a jab. He would act like some kind of nostradomus talking about UC struggling before the past couple of seasons and predicting the struggles would continue a few years. Really, Billy Don??? Really??? (sarcasm) Like we all didn't realize that. Duh.

So I have always lived in "reality".
First, I do appreciate the throrough job you did with your analysis. But...

Despite his OC behavior and extreme dislike for the current UC basketball program resulting in redundent posts designed to antagonize UC fans and to draw attention to himself, Don does seem to know his basketball. He was right-on the mark way back in time when others were donning their pollyanna apparel and John Lennon rose colored glasses. It now seems fashionable to be a realist like Don was.

In my humble opinion, winning the B'East in 09/10 is not a "reality", but a fantasy. Among other things, it hinges on 0 player attrition and a great recruiting finish in 2008. As of this moment, we have 1 post player who currently playing with a bone spur and 1 experienced power forward around after next year. While I do feel Gates will be here in 2009/10, he just may bolt after next season. Our frosh may mature to good or even great in time, but did you see a DeJuan Blair type frosh out there on Jucker court? Our competition for the top is recruiting right along with us and bringing in 5 star recruits.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see us win the Big East in 2 years, but it ain't likely to happen. Take a look at the competition.
In the top 5, maybe.

I respectably completely disagree. I don't remember anybody on this board having rose colored glasses in terms of UC's situation. What I do remember is there were 2 groups. One saying that UC was in deep doo-doo and would never recover. The other was saying that UC was in deep doo-doo and would need 3 or 4 years to recover. Don was in the first group with a few others, and most everyone else was in the second group. By the way......my glasses are obviously not rose-colored, but black and white.......I'm predicting bottom 4 of the Big East for UC next season.

I don't see us winning the Big East in '09-'10 either. My signature is more like my WISH. The only prediction in that signature is that UC will BE BACK in '09-'10. I guess to satisfy some people, I need to change it to "Big East CONTENDERS in '09-'10". 03-lmfao

Hey, it's just good to be laughing about all of this again.

If Gates were to bolt after next season or "early" after his second or third season, I would hope its because he is a lock as a first round pick. I realize we are talking about one guy here, but with an NBA first round lock in the paint and a good overall talent level on the team, you have to figure we would probably be having a pretty damn good year(s).

How does Don get brought up in relation to this thread? There is no reason to talk about him at all ever again.
