Mid Major at large bids
Here's my count of mid major conferences on their way to at-large bids.

Atlantic-10 (3) Xavier, UMass, Dayton
Dayton is shaky at this point but if they win a couple of games in the A-10 tourney it will probably be enough to float them up to the at-large level.

Missouri Valley (2) Drake, Illinios State
Creighton is on the bubble but I don't think they have the quality wins. Only 11-9 in the MVC not too impressive.

Mountain West (2) Brigham Young, UNLV
New Mexico will probably get an at-large if it can upset BYU or UNLV in the MWC tournament.

West Coast (3) Gonzaga, St. Mary's, San Diego
I don't know how such a lousy conference top to bottom like the WCC manages to do it, but they are doing it as San Diego has won the WCC automatic bid.

Sun Belt (2) South Alabama, Western Kentucky
USA had a 17-3 regular season record, including 2 wins against WKU. I'm assuming WKU wins out in the Sun Belt tourney as they'll be the heavy favorite from this point out.

Total mid major at-large bids (7)

RE: Mid Major at large bids
San Diego win puts a lot of heat on Kent State to get to the final. The Saint Mary's win isn't as strong now as I think The Gaels are gone.....NIT.....they are cooked.....no way WCC gets three teams.......Gotta hope Memphis wins CUSA.....Not a good year for bubble teams. Ohio State and Kentucky have some great wins and winning conference records.....Arizona and Arizona State are another tough decisions.....Kent State better not chance the at-large....I don't trust that selection commitee when Kentucky are Arizona are in the mix.....you know CBS is putting some heat to get Kentucky in. They wine about Syracuse not getting in over CAA teams.....,but can you hear them if Akron wins the automatic and Kent State gets its named called and no Kentucky....imagine Billy Packer and Dick Vitale.....saying what a travesty......SEC where is the SEC....and the WCC, Horizon and MAC get 7 bids.......are you kidding me.......If Cleveland State wins....you will see the state of Kentucky crying.

I don't think Dayton gets in, St Mary's might get left out. C-USA should get 2. If Temple goes to championship game, do they steal A-10 2nd berth.

A-10 is like the 1995 MAC. Lots of good non-conference resumes, but the league beat each other up and they might get just Xavier in and had school like Kentucky and Arizona bids.

the "experts" over at ESPN are saying that St. Mary's should still be in after winning their final regular season game. They still have a lot of good wins and no bad losses. Given KSU has some bad losses, I think they still have a good shot at getting in if they don't blow a first round game to BG or Toledo. KSU has both of those team's number though, I would expect them to come out with more fire this time.

I disagree with Illinois State. They will not make it. They just lost by 20 points the other day. You just can't do that at the end of the season looking for a bid. Besides, I would hate to see Rob Judson make it to the tournament. 03-wink

kent didn't have toledo's number when they played this yr and toledo beat them and they didn't have bg's number last week. this will be tough for kent. everyone they play from here on out will be loose and desperate. who knows how the committee will choose. we can narrow down the top 10-12 teams for the final 4 or 5 slots, but its tough to call. vcu, st. mary's, illinois st., s. alabama all can make good arguments but they won't all go. the sec was hardly dominant out of conference but several of the teams who struggled early did great in the league so they may find a way to get 6 in. similar deal with the acc. i like the pac 10 and don't have a problem with them getting a 5th or 6th bid although I gotta question Arizona or Arizona St getting in unless they make a run in their league tourney. on ESPN they're saying Arizona has 10 RPI top 100 wins. OK but kent has 9 against only 3 losses while arizona has 11.

St Mary's is in pretty easily. If Temple reaches the A10 final, they will NOT get in.
