Who knows. I know Toma (SID) is in constant contact with all the teams so maybe they're just not comfortable with releasing the info for whatever reason.

Edited to add Artie Marine (6'6" SF from Charlotte). Right now we have a roster of 13. Don't know if Pollock will be a scholarship for a walk-on (either way I think he gets some good minutes for us next year off the bench). If the coaching staff grants Pollock a scholarship, then that gives us 1 scholarship for the 09 class.

The above list could be our team for 2008-2009. That is kind of exciting to think about!

The roster seems pretty set so I'll go ahead and take a stab at our lineup.

Starters:
PG-McConnell
SG-Woods
SF-Cummings
PF-JMac
C-Mitchell

Biggest contributors off the bench:
Dixon
Pollock
Whipple
Green

Play sparringly (mostly blowouts):
Chambers
Marine
Allison

I think with these players you are going to see a lot of different line-ups
Think about a front line at times of Green Allison Mitchell if you want to go big or Cummings Woods Whipple JMac if you want to run
I think we know have the players to match up with any style of play and it should make us more competive in this year and for years to come
I think Whipple is going to get more playing time than people think if he continues to improve like he has but the key to all of this is now the deep we will have next year.

I don't think we will ever see Mitchell, Green, and Allison on the court at the same time. No one in that lineup can play the SF. I think you could see JMac or Whipple at the SF position a lot. I definitely think Whipple has a great opportunity to contribute on the post and on the wing. He really impressed me at the end of last year. Cummings and Woods are going to be big time contributors out of the newbies...outside of that, I think everything is up in the air. The good thing is that we have a ton of talent coming in. It will be up to the individual players to make their mark in the lineup. I think everyone will be given an opportunity for big minutes.

I got a chance to see some of the new guys play today... Cumming is going to be very good. He has all the athletic tools to dominate. Also, I have heard from an inside source that Dixon has been robbing kelvin in practice. It should be an interesting upcoming season.

Thanks for the info Kr.. Dixon is probably a lot quicker than Kelvin so it'd be great if he could earn some minutes.

RE: Official Kennesaw 2008-2009 Basketball Thread
KR we mustve been on the court at the same time. today at the rec center on campus i was just shooting around and in walked jd pollack with dixon, woods, and cummings. actually got to play a pick up game with them. that was a little ridiculous with some dunks and ally oops. needless to say i didnt score anything, but i digress. a few observations i made, as well as some things that were said when i was chatting with one of the players. well first when talking about scheduling he said they tried and almost had florida state on the schedule but it fell through, and are working to try to get something together with either UGA or GT if not both. on his views on the lineup, at least to begin the season, he thought it would be 1 kelvin, 2 jd, 3 Jon-michael, 4 either green or cummings and 5 jay mitchell. i was able to confirm something said on the boards, the team is heading for a motion style offense. one thing he did say that caught my attention, as KR said, he thinks dixon will give kelvin a run for his money for the starting PG job. as for some observations, i will repeat some things already said, but its worth it. Markeith Cummings is the real deal. he had both an inside an outside presence. he can be showtime for our team. tony ingle said "He will eventually be a fan favorite once his experience catches up to his natural abilities" and i wholeheartedly believe that. the ridiculous thing is he is listed under rivals as a 2 star player. Ladaris Green is listed as a 3 star player. i cant imagine eventually seeing these two on the court at the same time. some further observations about kurtis woods is that he runs the court and i could see him liking to push the ball. he and cummings already developed some chemistry as his ally oops were delivered by woods. i think spencer dixon will be one of those quiet guards who commands the floor but might not score 20 a game. he just has that presence about him. it was great to see the new recruits, anybody else got anything to add?

Jay Mitchell will be playing anywhere from a SF to C. But he will mostly play a forward position and not center.

If we truly are running a motion offense then the 4/5 positions are interchangeable. Good to hear that Markeith and Kurtis are getting to know each other... I would love to see the wars that are going to take place in practice. We are serious competition at every position next year except for maybe in the post. When Heramb steps in play the following season even that position will be hotly contested.

Thanks Escalade, great post. I love this type of information. When I watched Spencer play before he seems like a quiet kid who leads by example. I'll be a little surprised if JD gets the nod at the 2. He does bring experience and amazing defense to the table, but seems to lack the ability to score. Regardless if he starts or not he'll obviously see plenty of PT because of his defense. I assume either Cummings or JMac will see most of their minutes in the paint but not sure who would be most effective there. Regardless all of our post players will see lots of PT.

RE: Official Kennesaw 2008-2009 Basketball Thread
I think JMac and Cummings will switch in and out of the SF and PF spot. Both can play both spots. JMAc has to develop a consistent jump shot in order to guarantee himself minutes at the SF spot. Cummings is going to be a tough cover for the opponent at both positions..too strong for SF's and too quick for PFs. And he doesn't need much room to get WAY up in the air.

Definitely thanks for the first person reports. Those are fun to read...

Also on a side note. Make sure that you students are spreading this message board to other students. Would be nice to start creating a loyal Kennesaw community from recent graduates. Simple things like this message board can increase fan loyalty, and our support of Kennesaw State. We start to get 20-30 students involved in this board per class and we will have a HUGE community of supporters in a very short time. SPREAD THE WORD! :)

Talking about the sf and pf position Whipple might get more time then JMac. He is improving and is more athletic and has a better shot from the 3 point line. JMac is going to have to bring some toughness and rebounding if he wants to be in that rotation.

RE: Official Kennesaw 2008-2009 Basketball Thread
Ingle played JMac and Whipple both at the SF during our end of the season run last year. I believe we were starting JMac at SF, so I have to believe that he will get first shot, but I agree that he is going to have to step up his game...if Whipple puts in the work this summer his ceiling is much higher than JMac, but potential doesn't mean anything when you hit the court, it is how hard you have worked on your game. I saw a lot of improvement this year in Whipple...I am hoping for some more next year as I am sure you are.

KennesawBasketball, maybe if Whipple can put the ball in the basket but I haven't seen that before.
