Baseball season is almost here
I've only been a member here since basketball season but does anyone else here enjoy baseball? I know Nick has said he doesn't get into it which is cool, but what about others? This is actually the sport I get into most.

I love baseball season and always have. I'm excited about our team's potential and about the teams we have coming to Kennesaw. I think it speaks volumes for the program that Georgia is actually coming here this year.

I think we had GT here last year and we won... that is also a huge program. I believe we have GT and UGA coming this season.

I haven't heard a thing from fall practice so its hard to say what the lineup will look like for the opener. Is Robbins playing short or second? How are some of the frosh doing? I was pretty stoked about Bucky Smith, Jon White, Josh Whitaker, etc. Not to mention Juco transfer Ric Bishop. Our lineup should finally get some of the pop its been missing.

You're right and Georgia Southern is coming too, so all three of the big baseball programs in the state are coming to Stillwell. Even though we beat Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Georgia Southern last year, it says a lot that they're all willing to play us here. It shows that KSU isn't that far out of the way in both terms of location and baseball program presitige. Still, we are playing return games at Tech and Southern and we are playing two games in Athens. If we were absolutely nobody, we would only be able to play them by going to their places.
Corn, I believe Robbins is playing short but I'm not positive. I haven't really heard anything about their practices yet either.

GFWO... any other schedule information? I imagine Hawaii will be for a tourny. Maui Invitational? That'd almost be unreal.

MercerFan should be here any minute so I'll go ahead and let ya know Mercer is also coming to KennesawFan53. ha. I think it's great that those schools will come here. People at our school know who those schools are. Some are even fans of those programs so it's extremely important we get exposure and head-to-heads against them.

RE: Baseball season is almost here
my favorite sport, like corn, is baseball, so i am absolutely stoked about this upcoming season. KSU baseball is on the up and up on the national scale. After next season(end of probation), I could see KSU baseball be taken to the next level like the Stetson's of the world (Stetson is something ridiculous like No. 36 in the entire country, pretty good for an A-Sun team I'd say). Like has been mentioned previously, the better quality recruits coming in, as we are starting to see this season, as well as exposure to teams like Tech, UGA, and GS, the sky is the limit. Now tech is a little down (not ranked for the first time in a while), and UGA has had a couple down years now but just the exposure to playing these schools, if we are able to take 2 of 3 from UGA and maybe 1 from tech, we will be starting to get noticed around the state. I understand that the ultimate goal is to be recognized on a national scale, but I think just one step at a time. How can you be recognized nationally without first being recognized in your own state. It will be an interesting year and I am looking forward to getting out to some games this season.
on a side note, i dont know if anyone cares, but our softball team is turning heads, they have started the season 6-1 and look to be strong. hopefully the lady owls can bring home a regular season conference title.

The softball team has started off very stong. They've dominated the majority of the games they've played and their only loss came in extra innings to a strong Southern Miss team that they had already beaten. They should be able to repeat as regular season conference champions.

RE: Baseball season is almost here
Starting line up I would like to see in play for the opener.
1. Robbins-2B/SS
2. Baker-CF
3. Morrow-LF
4. Whitmer-C
5. Bishop -RF
6. White-3B
7. Whitaker- DH
8. Martin-1B
9. Subblefield/ Bucky-2B/SS
Have to note a few things. I have no inside information on the team. I've heard nothing about practice/injuries/off the field issues so these projections are based soley on how I saw them play last year and I personally rank our recruits. I'm confident Bishop will be HUGE addition to our lineup (the Juco transfer) and that Jon White is plenty good enough to start right away. Bucky is also a great middle infielder and I'd love to see him grab a starting spot as a frosh. I really don't know much about Whitaker but Sansing seemed extremely high on him (and we need some more power desperately) so I put him in as the DH. I do not think this is how our end of the year lineup will look, because hopefully some of the young guys improve and move up the lineup (ala Jace last year).

RE: Baseball season is almost here
Hey, did anyone know we received votes for the Collegiate Baseball Newspapers preseason top 40? 91 different teams received votes, but I feel like thats a pretty big accomplishment with all the great baseball programs out there.

First starting lineup
Robbins
Baker
Morrow
Whitmer
Bishop
Martin
Van Wyck
Whitaker
Subblefield
Considering I had no inside knowledge on injuries, etc I'd say I predicted the lineup fairly accurately. Robbins is playing second BTW
