RE: The official Bronco Baseball Season thread
I played hookie from work Friday and drove to Mt. Misery to watch the game. Hollingsworth pitched well. Offense did all the little things right. We scored 6 of our 8 runs with 2 outs. Actually had some sac flies, etc. Really fun to watch. Still a little weak at the left and right field spots but we just have to put up with it because of the offensive #'s Sheets and Lewis have put up.

At the end of the game they announced they would be playing a double header on Saturday because of expected bad weather on Sunday. So I decided to stay overnight and watch the games on Saturday. With the casino in town I figured to have something to do.

Saturday's games were a blast. Typical Western-Chippy banter in the stands. I must say a couple of the Western parents were a hoot. Some great lines. "Hey Chippy you better tuck in your skirt", was one of the better ones. Our fans were on them from the first pitch, which was awesome.

Morrison struggled in game 1 on Sat. But he battled and kept it close. I thought the key to the game was his getting out of a bases loaded nobody out in the 5th inning. He only gave up 1 run in that situation. I thought the game was decided there. Moser gave up the home run in the 9th to tie the game but we continued to battle. Great extra inning win.

Stroud was terrific in game 3. He was locating his curve and throwing strikes.

I saw one of the biggest bushleague, low class things at the end of the Saturday games. As I was leaving the stadium after the game. I saw our players standing next to the bus talking with their parents. Ford was having a very heated discussion with Jaska, the chippy head coach. Jaska would not let our players use the shower facilities. He claimed there was not hot water anywhere on campus for our guys to use. Our players had checked out the the hotel, just like they would have done on a Sunday game. It is always the responsiblility of the home team to provide locker rooms and showers for the visiting team. So our players had to take a bus ride home in sweaty uniforms. Low class, scummy move by a low class, scummy school. I would recommed anyone reading this to send an email to Jaska and the AD letting them know what piece of sht move this was.

heeke1dw@cmich.edu - Chippy AD

jaksa1sp@cmich.edu- Baseball head coach (and low class vermin)

Sweeping the chippies on the road was great. This is what we have been capable of all year. I hope we keep it up.

Go Broncos!

That move stinks. Literally. What a sore loser.

Preview of tonight's game at Notre Dame:

- Western Michigan (26-19-1) @ Notre Dame (33-14-1)
- Frank Eck Stadium; Notre Dame, Ind. Monday, 6:05 p.m. ET
- Series history: Notre Dame leads, 64-63-1. The Irish have won six straight to take the lead in the series, including a 17-9 victory at Frank Eck Stadium on March 21, 2007.

A WMU win ties this series up.

This is a make-up game for one that was rained out on April 1.

Quote:Monday against Western Michigan, the Irish likely will go with freshman righthander Brian Dupra (3-2, 5.02). Dupra turned in his best outing of the season on April 29 against Mississippi Valley State in a 4-0 Irish victory. He pitched seven innings, allowing six hits and no runs while striking out six and walking one.

Another possible option for the Irish is sophomore righthander Eric Maust (6-1, 2.97), whose spot in the rotation was skipped due to Sunday’s rainout.

Any opportunity to beat the Irish at anything should be a reason to be ready to play. Anybody know who is likely to pitch for the Broncos?

RE: The official Bronco Baseball Season thread
^^^I have to amend my previous post. I just found out that after the bus left Jaska called for and found a shower for the players at the baseketball arena. It sounds like Ford's tirade made him change his mind. At least our players got clean. Jaska is a still a bushleage, classless jerk.

^My guess is Ross Wesdrop. Been starting midweek and did not pitch this weekend. He gives us our best chance to win. 3-5 with a 5.12 ERA.

Broncos defeat Illinois State 5-4 on a 10th inning walk off home run by Matt Abro. We win 5 in a row. Bring on Northern Illinois. This couldn't have happened at a better time.

Also Coach Ford wins his 100th game.

I can't believe the home part of their schedule is completed. Another season I didn't get out to a home game. When do they start the stadium project? I wonder how it will look by football season?

GoBronco Wrote:^^^Actually Ben 8 teams go now. The top 3 teams from each division and the next 2 teams with the best record, reguardless of division. The math gets pretty wierd but I think we will be OK if we win 4 the next 2 weekends. I don't think we will. I remember looking at our schedule last winter and not liking those last 2 series on the road. Tough to win at Central and Northern. The 8 team format hurts the MAC come NCAA time. Lots of extra innings for the pitchers who then have to go right into the NCAA tourney the following week. The MAC would be better served to just send the top 2 teams from each division, IMHO.

With tonight's loss we keep our record against Michigan D-1 schools perfect.

I agree completely that 8 teams is too many. 8 out of 12 is not a good idea. Multiple teams below .500 are going to get in most years. I liked our traditional setup with the top 2 teams in each division, plus the next 2. By taking the top 6, usually everybody who makes it was .500, or at least very close. Plus 6 just always seemed to be fair given that it was the top half of the conference.

And you are right, these teams do not have enough pitching depth for this tournament. The tournament may well be decided by your secondary pitchers.

See you guys Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Ouch. This one is going to leave a mark. After leading at one point 10-4, the Broncos dropped the opener to NIU 12-11.

WMU was up 11-4. We put up five runs in the 8th, three of which came on a three-run homer and three more runs in the 9th. Your closer threw the ball away and we scored the winning run on his error with a man at 3rd.

No we gave you this game on a silver platter. I live about an hour away so I went to the game. I was embarrased. The worst display of baseball and managing I have ever seen.

They left your starter out there too long. It looked like they wanted him to throw a complete game. I had a feeling he was gonna get hit up soon, he threw a lot of pitches. Your defense didn't give him much help either with 5 errors.

Broncos lose game three yesterday 8-5 and will be the #7 seed in the tournament.

The Broncos will face No. 2 seed and West Division Champion Eastern Michigan on Wednesday, at 12:30 p.m. at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Here's to hoping that they can regain some momentum against EMU. The MAC is pretty balanced, it seems. Not a lot of difference between any of the teams from #2 - 8. Top two in the East, KSU and BG look pretty strong.

Strange how EMU is 15-8 in MAC and yet 21-31 overall.

EMU played a brutal non-conference schedule and lost their first 17 games. They lost game to Florida (2), Florida Atlantic (4), Tennessee (3), and Kentucky (2) during the losing streak.

I think you are right, there is not a lot of difference in these teams. NIU beat Kent 2/3 and got swept by Bowling Green, however, Kent swept BGSU....go figure.

Bowling Green certainly comes in as the "hot" team with 11 stright wins.

In this case I think the old adage is actually true, anybody could win this tournament.
