Former NIU bball star guard Steve McCuistin coached Driscoll girls team far into the playoffs before losing yesterday.

He coaches his former teammate, Ron Lindfors, daughter.

He wasn't all mac but he had one of the sweetest shots around. Kept defenses honest so Rayhorn could patrol inside.

I was tempted to describe him earlier as a gunnar from long range but paused to remind myself how events can shape forever my choice of everyday innocent words.

I had my second tearful moment with nonNIU colleagues who came to work wearing black and red ribbons today.
I also should probably NOT have listenened to the Huskie fight song on car CD player this morning. I thought forward together forward would help me cope better but it made me even sadder.

I continually remind myself this is not so much about me or NIU as it is for those familes burying their Huskie pride and joy.

Not with Montini in their way. They have a great sophmore and several very talented freshman and if I'm not mistaken an extended winning streak in the SCC.
