The cancelled NIU bball games
Do you guys know if the cancelled games vs WMU, @ Toledo, and vs Tennessee St. will be made up or they are just cancelled permanently. Im guessing they will not be made up due to scheduling constraints?

Haven't heard but I would guess we would try to make up the MAC games. A Toledo fan mentioned a possible day on the main site for the Toledo game. I am sure we can find a way to squeeze in the WMU game. I don't know if TS will be because it really is unimportant. Neither need it for bubble purposes.

I'm thinking they will make up the two conference games.

RE: The cancelled NIU bball games
All three schools, NIU, WMU and UT do not play mid-week next week in men's basketball.
Therefore, the Huskies could go to Toledo on February 26-Tues (UT women play at home on the 27th) and then WMU could come to DeKalb on Thursday the 28th. Both WMU and NIU play the following Saturday. That's three games in five days but it could be done. Have not looked at the women's schedule yet.
As mentioned - Tennessee State is not going to be played.

Life has to move on at some point.
How long should life be put on hold? I'm sure it's a different number for different people.

Taking your mind of the troubles of the day might be just what some people need.

Wondering when or if basketball games will be made up- even if it is utterly unimportant if they are- beats spending time wondering about other things NIU related right now.

Exactly. In January 1979 NIU was closed for the first week of the second semester due to blizzard after blizzard. Unfortunately, most of us had made it back to DeKalb, and spent the week trying to find anything to do to avoid cabin fever. Luckily for us the Huskies had a home game scheduled for a Wednesday night against Western Michigan. Somehow the Broncos were able to get into town, and with nothing else to do almost 5,000 students made it out to Chick Evans for the game. Although you can't dismiss last weeks tragedy, sports have always been a diversion from the cruel realities, or was the case in '79, sheer boredom.

Being a former NS employee sports never meant anything to you anyway. It is a devstating tragedy but classes and athletics do have to resume at some point. Crawl back in your hole, thanks.
