The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce has established the NIU Memorial Fund, to help memorialize the students who were killed in the tragedy. The fund is being administered by American National Bank & Trust of DeKalb County. Checks can be directed to the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce or American National Bank & Trust, 120 S. Main Street, Sycamore, IL 60178.

Weak attempt on humor on a sad day. I would try to ignore them as much as possible and hopefully some agreement can be arranged ala the radio thing they did for VT. That being said I certainly understand your feelings toward them as I had the exact same ones just a few months ago. If I had seen one on campus in the days after I'm not sure I could've controlled myself. Luckily I never had to find out.

I hate to pile on here, but I can't stand people who use tragedies to further their own agenda. The Westboro Baptist "Church" is firmly at the top of my list of people like that, but coming in second is Jack Thompson, the debarred lawyer from Florida who goes around to every tragedy in the nation and blames them on video games. He blamed video games on the shooting at Virginia Tech (even though the investigation showed that the shooter had never owned a console his entire life), and just about every other school shooting as well.

He's already started running his mouth about what happened yesterday, before any evidence has been collected, and before hardly any details are know.

Not as nearly as bad as the guys you are discussing, but it's like adding insult to injury.

Next thing you know, Al Sharpton will go off on a tirade because one of the victims was African-American or something.

It's all so disgusting. I wish people would respect the victems and their families, and let them go through this without being used to promote some sleazebag's agenda.

Now that I have a cooler head, I take back what I said about throwing them in the river, or lagoon.

Thomas Jefferson once said error of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it., so we could counterprotest the WBC by holding up signs that say things like, "The constitution even protects @$$holes". Or "I am with stupid --> " :withstupid:

I was going to ask the same thing. I've been trying to monitor the largest anti-WBC @ NIU facebook group to see if anyone is keeping updates. Nothing yet, from what I can tell.

To begin, I would like to express my sincere sympathy to everyone at Northern Illinois University.

As for this group, I believe it is the same group that organizes "protests" for the funerals of our servicemen/women who are killed in Iraq. Just as that is disgusting, so is the possiblity that they would try to show up at the funerals for these victims. I know that for the funerals of the soldiers who have died, hundreds of veterans show up with flags to form a barrier between these protestors and the families/friends. Perhaps, if you were to contact the local American Legion or Vietnam Veterans organizations, they could provide you with some guidance.

Again, I extend my sincere sympathy to the entire NIU community.

It does not list any NIU dates/times, but they are showing up for two funerals.

but some radio show in Boston? gave them an hour to speak without interruption and they agreed.
I am not sure if they actually went throught with it but I also remember a motorcycle club made up of veterans that follows them and stay between their protest and the families was mentioned too.
It is hard to remember. We were all in such shock and this groups threats just added to that.
I hope someone else can remember better than I.
